So the football season has virtually finished and there isn't a major international tournament(unless you count the Copa America).

So what are the plans for the summer?

I'm usually sad when football season finishes, but glad to be away from it. All the off field nonsense has really drained me.

I started a new job at the end of April(That's why I haven't posted as much) so pretty tied up with that.

Other then that I'll watch some of the cricket and tennis and try and put some time into playing guitar.

New fish tank being ordered on Monday, be a few weekends spent putting corals and fish in there.

Cleanup old tank to Ebay it. That's a weekend right there, and nowhere near as much fun as the first line in this post.

    Week in Cornwall.

    Work.

Continue teaching my granddaughter fun stuff, that gets us both into trouble.

    Waiting for the new season.

Make the most of the grand daughter fun stuff. My eldest is now at an age where she is permanently stuck to a phone or an iPad and grandad is just an old fogey. Previously she was wonderful company. Fortunately the youngest one is still at that age where she likes to be with grandad and doing all those things, stopping up late, eating things she wants etc, that those awful people, parents, stop them doing. Beauty of grandkids is that you enjoy all the good things, their sense of curiosity, discovering new things, then they go home and you don't have to be involved in them playing up at school, tantrums when they don't get their own way and all the rest of it. Being grandparents is more fun than being parents.

Can't argue with that. She nearly 3 and misses nowt. Usually pleased when she goes home like but yeah, more fun being a grand parent than a parent.

I've got 3 daughters and when eldest got pregnant she said she assumed I wanted a grandson. I said "nope. I hope you have a girl and I hope she's exactly like you."

"You're being nasty dad ain't you?"

    "Yes, yes I am."

She is fab though. We'll probably do some day trips over the summer with her of course.

Ditto to this, our youngest grandson is nearly 3 and I let him jump in puddles, dig holes in the ground with sticks or twigs, Nanna is not too pleased when we both come back to the house the worse for wear, do I care? :)

Get your reasoning her Happy as its maybe a little cruel to watch your granddaughter give her mother hell but funny all the same, all I get is 'Dad I was never as bad as her' mmmm selective amnesia dear.

we plan our holidays around the football season so we are off tomorrow for a few weeks then following a bit of motor sport and getting out on my bike in the nice summer sunshine (hmmmm!!). One of our sons is doing the London Triathlon again so will be off down there to cheer him on but apart from that we will just potter about and do day trips here and there. Plus I have got 10 guitar lessons for my birthday so (hopefully) I can finally grasp the skill and play some music!!??

Funnily enough the start of the next season comes round really quickly anyway so the summer break ends up being quite short really.

Have a great summer one and all <cool>

I'll just check in on here now and again and laugh at all the stupid rumours that get lapped up by gullible ****ers. There's a good one about Lincoln going now.

fixtures are out 17th June. Pre season mid July. Season starts early August. It'll be here before you know it.

Didn't intend to post but saw this thread and couldn't resist, I'm sat on a balcony in Rhodes, daughter, hubby, twin g'daughters are in next door apartment. Just done a six hour stint by the pool and all getting ready for some scoff - summer started last Wednesday

Keep my 3 and 1 year old entertained is constant. Took eldest to a few games last season, he wants to know when we go again, wanders around the house sometimes singing' Bruce's barmy army'.
Days out with them, Lightwater Valley, Yorkshire wildlife park and Flamingo Land for starters. Holiday at Centre Parks.
How times change, few years ago it would've been 3 week diving holiday in Indian Ocean with a short break in Europe somewhere!

Just out of interest what fish do you keep? Presumably marine if you've got corals?

It was a hobby of mine for nearly 30 years but had to give it up when I moved house last year due to lack of space. I had a 125 gallon Malawi Cichlid tank and was gutted having to get rid of it. I am plotting a way of trying to fit a small Angelfish tank somewhere now.
