Didn't see this one coming...High risk but at least it isn't the usual list of hacks and incompetents ie those who would actually come and work for NUFC Inc. ..could be very very good or very very bad ...interesting idea though

It's a very intriging proposition, but l don't see it being possible unless Ashley and Co are prepared to have a massive rethink and change of stance.
    Surely Vieira won't want.....
Carver and co as his back room staff
No say in who comes and who goes
Building a team to see it's lynchpins sold off at the first opportunity
Being told not to field teams capable of sustaining decent cup runs, or God forbid winning something
Having an owner who never speaks to him
Having an MD who doesn't know what he is doing
I am sure we could list many more issues that l just don't think he would accept.
I would love to think that his appointment heralds a brand new dawn, the club is ready and crying out for this to happen, but l can't help thinking we are getting our collective legs pulled here? Thoughts?

Legs getting pulled is all I see, and too many fans fall for it, thinking it could happen.
It won't of course, unless MA has a complete turnaround in his thinking.
Maybe I'm being too cynical and perhaps he was being genuine last week...

I think it may be a signal of change. First things first, it needs to happen. The new man in charge was always going to dictate whether Mike was full of cr@p or not. What is positive is Mike diversifying his portfolio. He has followed up a serious play in property with a new High Street shop (MegaValue - not joking). He's on an aggressive march in retail and is using portfolio to bulk up profits; now is the right time to show he can win at anything he does, instead of just leveraging the NUFC global advertising platform.

We'll see who comes in, but by all accounts it's between three or at most four, and they're all in with the club next week.

im a bit worried about someone coming in with no managerial experience, the 1 positive i can see is that he seems to be the sort of chap that will make demands regarding being able to sign players and if he gets messed about he will either, A- Punch the cr@p out of fat mike or B - Punch the sh1t out of fat mike and not be afraid to tell the media why he did it

Vieira in with new staff and fresh ideas if you please. If Carver has to say have him clear the bins out. Woodman and Stone can empty the latrines.

my heart says 'yes I;d love him here'... but my head says it's no coincidence they have just extended the ST renewal deadline by two weeks and then surprisingly such a positive story breaks straight after..
We've been shafted so much by the lies of fat mike that our collective arses resemble dumbledore's sleeve right now.

Like the thought of a new bright young thing coming in and freshening things up,but like many have said the season ticket deadline has been moved.

The deadline has been extended to 10th June - if all the shortlist do show up this week then the new manager should be appointed before the deadline!
If there is no sign, despite the postive reports then don't renew!

And if they are worried about season ticket sales people can always wait until a manager is in place before making a decision - all it will mean is that your current seat is no longer (possibly) available!

Imagine what would happen if some of our fans supported Portsmouth instead of Newcastle!

Actually, the more I think about this, the more I want it to happen. I reckon it would be like a breath of fresh air blowing through the club. We've had many tried and tested managers over the years and won nowt, let's give him a go I say. He's a born leader and motivator.

vieira has what it takes to be a top manager in my opinion
He's been very innovative with our youth teams,he has players rotating in positions,ie wingers playing the odd game at full back or midfielders playing centre half,so the younger players appreciate what's required to play in front of the defence and get them ready for the next step up
I was hoping he would move up to be the no 2 to pellegrini this season with the aim of him taking the helm the year after.

From what I've been reading it's between McClaren, Vieira, Karanka and Laudrup. Carver is done which is a great relief. McClaren probably wouldn't be too bad but any of the others would signal a greater change in the norm for MA and co and therefore far more exciting for me.

This is very interesting, for me viera would not walk into an interview and agree on everything they offer as he is not a yes man so if he was to agree the job this could be the biggest hint that fat mike is good with his words from last week.

I agree. I think IF he ended up getting the job it would be a very good sign.
