There aren't any excuses though are there? If you have a winning system and it falls apart [player leaving, player injured ....] and you don't correct the situation by replacing the missing and damaged 'parts' - then it's only going to go one way, that's not an excuse, it's a fact. Mis-management if you prefer.

Fair enough but your last post implied that we were incredibly unlucky because we lost a world class player and our next best striker.

    Apologies if I misinterpreted. <ok>

No need to apologise - you did misinterpret my comment or maybe it just looked different on the page to what it sounded like in my head as I wrote it <laugh>

    In BBC Sport Gossip.... http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/gossip/

The back page of the Sunday Telegraph

Bayern's failed attempt to sign Sterling suggests Chelsea and Real Madrid will have to fight each other over the signing of the England international. (Sunday Express)

Liverpool are exploring alternatives to Brendan Rodgers, in case the Reds' boss fails to convince owners Fenway Sports Group at his end-of-season appraisal that the club is progressing under his management. (Sunday Times - subscription required)

Sterling will stay at Anfield if outgoing Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp lands the Liverpool job. (Sun on Sunday - subscription required)

    ************************************************
So now it's looking like Sterling doesn't want Rodgers.

I think it's going crazy at the minute. Sterling is not popular with fans. I don't think he'll be popular with Klopp. Unless Klopp has already contacted Sterling.

It's all hinging on the early June meeting. Hope Rodgers can do a good powerpoint. I want him to stay to at least prove last season's miraculous performances were not a fluke.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is planning to get rid of three big names this summer in a major overhaul of his attacking line-up.
Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, Luciano Vietto of Villarreal, £8m-rated Danny Ings and Edin Dzeko are all on Rodgers' wish list.
The Daily Mail are reporting Rodgers will axe Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini to make way for new arrivals.

Liverpool have been told Nicolas Gaitan will cost £21million.
The Benfica and Argentina star is wanted on Merseyside.
He's also a target for Manchester United.
The Daily Mail claim Brendan Rodgers could bring in the player to bolster the Reds' attack next season.

Is Gaitan the dog's proverbials, then? I know very little about him.

Depends whether you sign him or indeed whether United signs him.

gaitan is yet another grossly over rated and over priced piece of toss out of the Portuguese league.

The only player EVER to come out of there who was a bargain is markovic the magician <magic>

Some time it's difficult to access players from Portuguese league, Ronaldo was perfect when United bought him. Players are most
likely to find the EPL more challenging: and this could lead to their frustration.

Portuguese League not as rich as the premiership, so if they have to sell it must be at handsome profit.
They got all these American players cheap: they only come well known when they come to Europe.
