If we get it we've earned it. Remember 6th place has qualified for the same reason we are hoping for.

Good point Fran. In all honesty it's a huge win-win really. If villa win it will be really special, but if arsenal win it will help us out.

Who's coming to Dnipro next season?

I've often wondered why companies bother sponsoring the cups. The league cup has been the Coca Cola Cup, the Carling Cup and probably some other names in my lifetime but I still refer to it as the league cup, as do most people I know. Similarly with the Barclays Premier League, will always just be Premier League. The Emirates FA Cup will be still be referred to by 95% of fans as the FA Cup, so seems a bit of a waste.

It's why I've always hoped Saints would sell the naming the rights to St Marys for a large fee, The Visa St Marys Stadium or something, nobody would call it that and we would receive a fee for the advertising.

Yeah I remember that, and nobody called it that, hopefully we are now more well known we can get a large company to pay for naming rights

If you look at the front of the stadium at a certain angle you can still see "Friends Provident" <laugh>

I am proposing to carry on watching the cricket...what will be, will be. I just know it will be 1-0 Aston Villa at half-time....couldn't take the stress. :)

My Ramblers meet today started at 13.30 instead of the usual 14.00, [OK, I should have checked earlier] so I guess I'm condemned to watching the FA Cup Final instead of going on a cheery 8 mile walk on the Hampshire Downs with some good friends and then spending the evening in the pub. Oh well... COYG [puke].

Yeah, 17.30. Very traditional eh..? Trust SKY to fart about with start times for so-called major football competitions, although I can't really see how a slightly later time inconveniences someone from Birmingham.

Getting to London for 3.00 and returning after 5.00 has to be more convenient than an early evening game (which may run late).

Well that's true. I was thinking more along the lines of AV football fans spending the rest of the evening in London. However, I do agree with you. Traditionally, the prime Cup Final game in domestic football started at 15.00 on Saturday afternoon. The TV companies [SKY broke the tradition] came in and started to dictate when this match, and similar others were to take place. Then the rot set in. For stadium football fans, traditional start times are an important part of the tradition.

I go that far back that almost any weekday 19.45/20.00 start times pee me off when it used to be a regular 19.30 on a Wednesday night.

BBC's Dan Walker has just revealed a great factoid, that is Shay Given breaking the record for the longest time between FA Cup Final appearances, 1998 and 2015. That's amazing. Could only happen with a keeper.

We've got plenty of mileage from our 6-1 thumping of villa in the lead up to this game.
Can't see them defending so high up the pitch for this one. Even Sherwood can't be that naive

It is fascinating that we beat Villa 6-1 when they had a plan....wonder how much we'd have beaten them by if they hadn't had one.
