I think Clyne would not be as good as a wingback in a three CB system. I also don't think Rodgers actually knows how to use that formation. Or anything about defending. So Clyne would have his work cut out for him, but if he goes that's his and LIverpool's problem. As long as we get at least 15m, good luck to him.

In all honesty, if we get 15million for him, that would be a very good deal for us. If he had kept his first half season form up all season then I would be devastated, but there's no denying that he dropped off quite sharply.
I would obviously prefer to keep him, as he is a really good player (with even more potential to unlock) but with 15million we could fund a RB replacement and have a load of cash spare. Plus, Right Back isn't an essential 'spine' position.

Anyone know how much/if there is a sell on % owed to Palace?

I thought we got Clyne through a tribunal and I'm pretty sure these deals always have % of a future transfer involved

Stop being fair and reasonable to rival clubs. We turn them into relative paupers over one player - that's a good deal for us. :)

I thought Liverpool were after Trippier?

I was actually just about to post exactly that, until I saw your post.

£3.5m for Tripper or in excess of £10m for Clyne, when you have multiple other positions (many of which are more important than RB) that also need strengthening, I would suggest is a no brainer.

But to be honest, if Liverpool signing Clyne (for, say, £15m) clears the way for us to sign Trippier for £3.5m, I would call that fantastic business from us yet again in the transfer window. Similar to replacing £30m Shaw with £10m Bertrand.
