Not really, I just dont condone hacking pieces of myself off because I cant be arsed to wash it.
Its only irrelevant if you dont have one.

are you as upset about removing harmless wisdom teeth just to avoid the chance of them growing in badly?

same thing. removing an irrelevant and unneeded bit of body just in case.

unless this is really about opposing something that has some ties to religion

This is very true, it's mainly done because parents want it for various reasons, none of which justify it when you examine it morally and ethically.
The parents are absolutely not doing it out of any intent to harm, just like FGM there are a set of beliefs (which may vary) that have been about a long time and people actually believe it is the right thing to do for whatever reasons. In all cases morally and ethically it is mutilation unless a medical requirement decided upon by a doctor

It should be law in any civilised country that you cannot choose to lob bits off your baby because you "believe" they should be chopped off

To me, circumcision of male child is welcome, but needless for a female child. I am aware of a woman
who got circumcised after she got married because of the stupid tradition of her husband .Embarrassment.:laugh::laugh:

Exactly what I thought when I read that <laugh>
The Hygiene argument is complete nonsense. Not only that, the skin on your bellend is different and is covered by foreskin for a good reason.

Absolutely. No one (besides Jewish people) circumcise because of religion here.

I'd believe 80% In US are circumcised. I don't know exact # but for newborns I know the rate is dropping. I think a little over 50% is what I heard recently. Depends on region. On the East Coast the cast majority of babies are still circumcised. On the West coast more babies are not circumcised than are circumcised.

Every woman ive slept with told me I was the first uncircumcised guy they had been with. I suspect my son won't have that same experience when he grows up.

Most girls I was with got kinda excited about me being "different" it was a turn on for them. First few times anyway.

Not upset, but find it silly.
I would NEVER under any circumstances put myself through non essential surgery.
Having an impacted wisdom tooth RIGHT NOW, which I do, I know it hurts like ****, but would never have considered getting it removed before it did hurt.

The only one I cannot argue with is breast cancer scares.
When women are told they have like a 90% of getting breast cancer, then I can completely understand having a masectomy, as cancer is life threatening.

But I dont class not having to wash my schlong as reason enough to warrant removal of a part of it.

I had my wisdom teeth out at as soon as I was old enough to do so. My mum made me. Didn't care at the time, glad she did now.

Good luck with getting that sorted mate.

Any skin folds are germ incubators it's a good, if not crude, description. It's also why morbidly obese have to be fastidious in washing their many skin folds.

"are you as upset about removing harmless wisdom teeth just to avoid the chance of them growing in badly?"

And what has that to do with circumcision, bad dental advice? As what future problems might foreskin cause?

Do people pull out wisdom teeth just cos they "may" be a problem or the dentist advises they "will" be a problem".
isn't it the dentist that decides if there is a problem, I am pretty sure if you bring your kid to the dentist and tell him to just pull the wisdom teeth he'll phone CPS

What if it's the medical profession advising that those 'bits' be 'lobbed off' - as is the case in America?

Unfortunately for the medical profession there is not enough evidence, in fact there is evidence that getting circumcised causes problems not fixes them.

Arguments for it are silly, Hygiene lasting longer in the sack and other similarly ludicrous reasons for hacking bits off your kid like the child is a fashion accessory, they can decide when they are adults if they want to get bits lopped off, I think that's fair, otherwise shaping the body of your child to fit your custom is nuts. Just as CPS would be round your gaf if you decided your kids should go to school with plate lip (that tribal thing where they put big plates in your lower lip) so should they deem hacking any bits off your kid for no good reason also criminal

In that case it's also the subject woman who is able to make the choice for herself - not her parents deciding to chop them off at birth "just in case"

It's worrying, I was contemplating cutting off my eyelids, wouldn't want germs getting trapped under there ;)

I'm not in favour of circumcision, in case you thought otherwise.

Most of my comments have been countering other peoples posts, like Bod for instance who saw it as a religious thing when in places like US it certainly isn't - now he's on the hygiene tack, goodness knows where he goes next. I still see it as nothing like FGM though.
