This gives a pretty thorough assessment: http://www.espnfc.co.uk/blog/scouts...ne-centre-back-who-could-blossom-at-tottenham
From the ESPN article: "Wimmer is a strong and solid left-footed centre-back who does the simple things well and rarely takes unnecessary risks..." Well that is a bit of good news. My alarm bells were ringing as soon as I saw Chiriches play the first time and it was glaringly obvious that he seemed to think he was a bit handy on the ball. The benefits of that attribute are pretty much negligible as far as I'm concerned. Left-footed, though so not an ideal partner for Vertonghen. Though being not-Chiriches, not-Fazio AND not-Kaboul does give him a bit of a head start.
I hope he'll prove me wrong, but it seems to me he doesn't have either the pace (Dier and Rose) or the technical ability (Vertonghen) to be a good fit for Pochettino. Still, he looks like a decent squad player in a spot where we need one or two.
I've seen reports saying he's technically sound and can play out from the back and possesses pace and strength, but then I've also seen reports saying that he has loose touches, loses concentration on his positioning, and isn't the best header of the ball. I saw an article that then said that it was almost better when we didn't know so much about players the club signed, because people formed their own impressions based on what they saw on the pitch rather than constantly judging against what they read on the internet and saw on youtube, which may provide false impresions. As much as I love those resources I see the point of the article!
Wimmer does seem to have the makings of the no-nonsense centre back we need...especially when you consider the closest player we have to that description at the moment is Fazio.
I hear Levy is interested in Crystal Palace winger Bolasie, and that Crystal Palace are interested in Adebayor. If Levy manages to make that switch happen…...
Holtby's still on loan, as Hamburg's season isn't over yet. They've got the 2nd leg of their relegation playoff tonight, having drawn the 1st one 1-1.
Ta BTW have you seen the message to you from BRB? http://www.not606.com/threads/calling-a-mod.302491/
Thanks, I was just doing them off the top of my head. Totally forgot we had some loans in the Premier League. Well his loan deal ends this summer and I figure that he technically has to finish his loan before he can leave again so he is returning even if it's just to collect his loyalty bonus when he leaves for a transfer.
