Yes, that's it. The freed slaves gave the vote to women, which didn't go down well with the British administration.

Is it a football match between the worst two football nations in the world? The first nations were Montserrat and Bhutan, Bhutan won by 4:0 so Montserrat must be really bad.

Yes.... I used to live in Bhutan... and they were bad! They were the bottom two teams in the world and it was played on the same day as the world cup final

They have just this year one their first ever world cup qualifier against sri lanka

Now that's something you don't hear every day! Though, rather bizarrely, I used to work with a chap who was the deputy chief vet over there a few years ago

I was part of the half time entertainment at two matches in the capital when I was there.

Once I took part in a penalty shoot out, as one of the dignitaries, and missed by yards...... :(

Another time at a sports event ( the national sport is archery) when I had to shoot at a target... I unleashed the arrow... and asked my chaperone, the foreign minister, where it went..... he said: ' Sadly, Stephen it has gone in the window of the house over there.'

    A true sporting hero... :)

During the South Africa World Cup, my sister-in-law was doing voluntary work in Sudan - overseeing the creation of a hospital in a remote village for a convent. At the end of her time there, all the nearby villages (ie within a three day walk) decided to hold a World Cup of their own in her honour. Her one and only claim to sporting fame is that, at the age of 60, she represented the winning Sudan team as goalkeeper. :)

This current FIFA business has more than once made reflect upon that - how football at the lowest level brought people together, at minimal cost, for an enjoyable occasion, whilst at the very 'top' the actual football is only seen as a means to a very greedy end...

    <applause> :emoticon-0139-bow:

Interestingly and I was thinking just this whilst listening to a 5 live discussion this morning that due to lack of funding trickling down.... there are less and less football pitches in the UK as every year goes by..... and only a young player who gets into an academy has a real chance of making it professionally..

    ....

I think that tells us everything we need to know about trickle-down economics.

You mean I scored by default :1980_boogie_down: OK. Which footballer was criticized by animal rights groups recently for his activities on the pitch ?

On the pitch? So I take it that it's nothing to do with the moose-shooting Ibrahimovic?
