I saw a recent survey of wages and that was for 2013-2014 so isn't exactly current. Our average wage was just over £20k per week. Only Palace paid less. If our top wages are around £40k per week I would think that means that plenty in the squad must be on £15k per week. That's not a lot when you compare to the possible income in the Premier League. I wouldn't risk not getting promoted next season for a few million pounds.
The Harper decision does seem a strange one. He was our first choice goalkeeper at the end of the season. I know he wants to get into coaching but you would think he can earn a lot more playing as well as wanting to play as long as possible.
A lot of hysterics about McShane on here today, he was an average defender really, if the other players had shown his grit and determination we probably would have stayed up, but he always had a mistake in him, and and his ball skills were dodgy to say the least. I would have liked him to stay, but he was resigned to leaving months ago, the Burnley away game was the day of the fall out, I don't think him attacking SB tactics that day helped matters, that was the game I started I question Bruceys terrible defensive tactics, only Macca came out of that game with any credibility.
If I'd said 'when', it would have been presumptuous. If I'd talked about it in the past tense, it would have just been ****ing weird. So as I was suggesting a possible future scenario, 'if' turned out to be entirely correct to use. You don't have to pick fault in everything, no matter how minor, if you think there's even a tiny chance of the club being questioned. It's fine. Just let it go. If you have your faith, that's all that you need. Praise Allam. Ignore the heathens.
It seems a very strange decision considering Chester, Dawson and Davies may all gain interest. If we could sell them and get any fees for them and keep Macca for free that's surely the best decision financially? Now if we sell two of those three we might have to look for another CB which is going to cost us money. It seems quite a short sighted decision, and one based on keeping our current CB's which is unlikely. If we play 3 CBs, I think we will be short as Bruce, Chester and Davies have all struggled with injuries in the past 12 months. Macca also made supporting our club a bit easier at a time when its bloody hard to have that same passion for Hull City. Macca gave his all, and his performance on Sunday summed it up, give your all right until the end. I hope we see Macca at the KC next year and he gets the standing ovation he deserves. He got a lot of criticism, some from me, but he gave it his all and I think he was deserving of a new deal.

Hallelujah, someone sees the basic principle. Just joking as I know some do but, to be fair, it comes across as something lost in emotion. Releasing McShane and Rosenior is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. They had experience, proven tenacity, versatility and the club, along with it's support in their being. Folk think the coin involved over-rides that and that is stunning.
I was very disappointed when we sold George Boyd to Burnley, although he was barring injury, which unfortunately occurred, always going to be back up at LWB to Brady. I was sad to see Liam Rosenior released, a fine club man who never let us down as a player, but understandable given Bruce's 3-5-2 tactics and our depth at the back. But I am truly gutted to see Macca go, even more so given the fact that he wanted to stay, and had in many ways, like Ian Ashbee, become an inspirational and totally committed part of the team. His performance in his final game at the KC, fighting through brutal leg and head injuries to stay on the field , was typical of the legend that Macca was rapidly becoming. I just hope that he does go to a Prem team, maybe Leicester with a good team spirit but questionable defense, where he will become a regular. If he stays in the Championship I would not want to be one of our strikers going up against a Macca who has something to prove to his former Manager. All the very best to you Paul McShane. You were a real "Tiger". I can't imagine you in anything but the black and amber stripes!!
Im sure that given the choice Bruces ideal starting center backs would be Chester and Dawson, if we play 3 at the back then you would hope that Davies would have got his head together as the 3rd man, Bruce jnr has signed a 2 year contract so wouldnt be going anywhere, Maguire was brought in with a view to the future and is capapble of doing a job for us in the championship, McShane was out of contract and allegedley been a bad lad sometime earlier on in the season so it makes sense that he would be the one to go, not happy about the situation but we all got relegated as a team so they must all face the consequences as a team. But i do agree with the Rossi sentiment, he would be an ideal championship player with not much cover at right back that is a strange one.
If the AB and PM choice was so clear why did SB rely on PM to keep us up and not on his son? It stinks to high heaven.
You can't have 6 PL centre backs in the championship it's just not going to happen. Even if theoretically we could afford it, none of those players will be happy being 2nd and 3rd reserve.
People do seem to be failing to take into account that perhaps, just perhaps, McShane isnt happy being back-up and Alex fully understands that is his role.
But maybe the manager didnt want an unhappy person in the dressing room. Everyone knows McShane is like a bear with a sore heard when he's not involved.
but Macca was first choice over the last few months - he was player of the month for April, he was man of the match against Man U - Davies may leave, Chester may leave, it's obvious that the club needs rebuilding now that we're in the Championship and it comes as no surprise that some fringe players will lose out as the club needs to balance its finances- it's also worth noting that all players should respect the Manager, whether they agree with his decisions or not, clearly Macca had his issues with Bruce and that probably had more to do with his release than anything else - unfortunately Faye, Macca and Davies have all had fall outs with Brucie about favouritism towards Junior, real or otherwise - it's something that needs sorting because it's not the first club that Brucie has been accused of nepotiusm
