You've got no idea how much McShane was on when we got relegated first time around or where he was in the wage structure of the time. So he didn't take a pay cut at the time. His new contract in 2013 would have been on championship wages with bonuses for promotion. It may even have included wage increase/wage decreases depending on the league we were in. You have no idea whether he would have demanded Premier League money to stay just as I haven't. You're right neither Rosenior or McShane have any sell on value they are free to walk away. As is Stephen Quinn. The consequence of the past few days may not be felt until we get offers for Brady, Chester, Dawson and maybe Meyler. Rosenior will find somewhere, probably with an eye on coaching. If Leicester are looking to expand their coaching staff we may well end up there. McShane will also find somewhere. Burnley has been mentioned and makes sense. He's the type of player they like, honest, hard working and now very cheap. I could see Quinn going to Burnley for the same reasons. I understand Marney is out of contract this season and Quinn would be a good replacement. If both went to Burnley it would certainly strengthen their push for a return to the Premier League. How strong we will be will depend on what players and on what salaries we have left at the end of the transfer window. We have a long time to wait, this is just the opening round and in many ways the easiest.
How many on here who are writing anti Jr placards were not so long ago calling for "McShites" ginger head on a block ?? i said it in another thread , - theres nothing much to chose between McShane and Alex Bruce - they both have huge passion and limited talent , the only difference is one is the bosses son - which cant be easy for any son in a dressing room with opinions like whats on here to go by . Macca has said something , apologised and got back into the XI ahead of Jr how is this Nepotism ? There is some serious overreaction on here
As I said on the other thread, the way McShane finished the Manchester United game is another big difference.
They are both similar standard. What I don't like are the bandwagon jumpers who are pretending they wanted Mcshane in at the start of the season ahead of the likes of Davies and Chester.
As everyone wants 4 at the back too Mcshane doesnt get in. Simple as that. He thinks he should be first choice he's not. If Curtis Davies gets his head together we will have a terrific back 3 and again Macca doesnt get in. AB is/was signed as a back up he's willing to do that obviously, so less money. Macca thinks he should be first choice and wants first choice money. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
Spot on, Bruce is happy to play second fiddle if needed and Macca isn't, or causes problems when he isn't. Would be great to see Davies return to his best form next year too, if he plays as he ought to then he is twice the calibre of Mcshane or Bruce
and as for mcshane last time in the prem and after relegation ... was on more than sonko, zayette, france (another story) , olifijana ... for those that thought he dropped his wage .. no .. he deferred a number of years wages which actually contributes quite nicely to our "loans" ... but hey that's not the rose tinted view so its wrong obviously *credit .. I was working there and saw the wages and also saw the 50k we paid Steve Mcphee to not bring this into public domain ... I don't care now .. they can take me to court .. will enjoy speaking to HDM about the R.France story especially
38k a week ... same as R.France as he was the "standard" mark to look at for (not being cruel) journeymen
If OLM is right Curtis Davis was refused a contract extension at the same time the club gave Alex Bruce a new 3 year deal.
You could also say that City have done McShane a huge favour by not demanding a transfer fee for him, likewise all the others who have been released.
What else where the others on? I thought it was common knowledge at that time that he was on over £30k pw
This is probably the most sensible post re Rosy and Mac. I would say them been released is ****ing awful decision.
