the race to sign adam birchall is now down to two...gillingham or swindon! on the afc wimbledon O/S terry brown the manager has made a statement; i would like to thank the board for pulling out all the stops as far as trying to gain the services of adam birchall, we have made him the biggest offer in our short history and it wasn't for the want of trying that he has decided to go elsewhere! swindon manager di canio said the lad birchall when i spoke to him, seemed to be very interested in coming to swindon town but has not heard back at all? di canio also said that he had not heard anything and woul look to move on to other targets....or is this di canio playing tricks?? would like to believe we are in a good position to sign him, but football can be a funny old game!!!!
sorry guy's i think i missed the most important part of what wombles manager said, which was; birchall looks to of decided to go to gillingham, which you can't blame him for, due to the location for him to want to be from home! looks very promising but will believe when on O/S!!!
Why would Terry Brown say that if it was untrue, unless the media got it wrong but it's their own website. Got to be a done deal surely?
brb, i believe when i see it on O/S, was more to do with the fact of the signings we have made and now we may well have ADAM BIRCHALL to add to our front line as well! the shock of whats happened in the space of the last couple of weeks, when we didn't hear a single thing before that? can't believe it all...just hope this now goes through thats all! UTG!!!!
more news... http://www.surreyherald.co.uk/surre...dmits-defeat-in-birchall-bid-86289-29038012/? the story is spidering out before any official announcement also this was reported at 6am this morning... http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/...est_in_Birchall_after_striker_stalls_on_deal/
“It sounds strange but it is not a problem, he was desperate to join us but I told him I can only wait one day and then move on. “I can wait a few days for Lionel Messi but not for this kind of player. “I’m not saying that he is not a good player, he has scored lots of goals in the Conference South and it would have been nice if he was one of the four or five strikers we have here, but it is not a problem. “We have money and time to bring in maybe better players. this bit gives me even more hope cos he knows he'll be part of our 2 pronged strike force rather than just another striker, plus i hope he reads di canios comments cos it does make it sound like hes not that bothered if he doesnt sign
Gills are set to gain two thing's out of this transfer: 1. A 20 goal a season Striker 2. A chance to piss of Swindon! Great work Hessy and Scally
i think were making an enemy out of the dons as well taking their best goal scorer and then signing their replacement
I agree completely about admiring what they have achieved in such a short space of time. But I think they realise that league football will be a whole different ball game than non league. Can't expect people to just let them have it their own way. All the best to them.
Don't think we will have annoyed them in any way. We paid more than a fair price for Kedwell and just offered a more attractive deal for Birchill.
