That is because they are all made up. Only the club and Slav (and his agent) really know what has been asked for and offered. If, on June 1st, we hear that Slav has accepted a new contract I wouldn't be surprised. Equally, I wouldn't be surprised if we find we have a new coach none of us have heard of. The Pozzos stated that speculation is futile.

Cameron's 'one nation' must be working when Yorkie champions the unfairness of a multi millionaire not earning another £4.5 million of our clubs money however he performs?. You couldn't make it up. A bit like Brown / Balls spending spree.

Someone stated some Premiership wages earlier, and showed Monk and Poyet on £0.5m salaries, so it seems that this offer wasn't unreasonable, especially if there were any bonuses that would have been included on top, dependant on achievements. So was his original wage too high/generous at Championship level?

If (and a big IF) he was after £1.5m a year, then I think the Pozzos are right to say no. This is far too high as a basic wage for someone with no Premeirship experience at one of the smaller clubs.

All of this is conjecture. We do not know either what was offered or what was demanded by SJ. What is clear is that the Pozzo's are reluctant to give longer term contracts (regardless of the success achieved), and this may be a problem for foreign managers wanting to potentially bring their families over with them. The assertion that Jokanovic is a multi millionaire is also conjecture on your part - he is the possessor of a Serbian passport who may have been looking for more contractual security than was offered. Can we also keep politics to the political threads.

From what I can tell everything is speculation ? Unless I'm missing something official from the club or our manager, who is out of contract on Monday ?

You could argue we have to speculate to accumulate? Not my idea of way to go but some might..... Its frustrating not knowing and I agree that both sides could give a little more IF what we're told is correct but that's a big if. Given the circumstances and knowledge of our history I like the idea of erring on the side of cautious. A three year contract is a brick wall that no way is justified. One year rolling at double last years level with bonus to take up to 1.5 million I think is where the fair middle ground is but if a manager wants to hold us to best part of 5 million regardless of performance what message would that send to the players? Is my memory failing me or did we not have an 8k a week cap on player salaries all of 5 years ago, did we not get in an awful mess a few years before that through stupid contract allocations (neeeeehthan Ellington comes to mind), not saying that slav wouldn't perform but the crystal ball approach to the future and betting all the jewels on one result seem a little daft. I agree that 10k a week increase was if true a paltry amount given the change in responsibility and effort needed but I don't believe it.

Quite true - you wonder if different papers have different sources...

Always a bit wary of an article which says "a source" and has no actually quotes in it!

Those figures don't stack up. Not being privy to the Pozzo accounts I have absolutely no idea what SJ's wage is. I also do not believe they would insult him with a derisory offer and nor would they offer more than they can afford. I contend that SJ's agent has stuck his oar in and decided that he can get a lot more money elsewhere.... a club that can pull in 40,000+ fans per match (and all the shirt sales, catering and everything else that goes with it) as opposed to 22,000 is going to be offering a lot more money. Can't do anything about that unless we're run unsustainably.... and nobody wants that.

And yet again, the Pozzo's do not do their laundry in public. No smoke without fire perhaps but newspapers are in the business of selling copy and making money. Agents are in the business of making money for their clients and themselves. They are both in a position to blow as much smoke around as they want and there is nothing the Pozzo's can do about it and maintain their confidentiality and integrity at the same time.

I think people should all just calm down a bit or we'll end up with a self fulfilling prophesy.

As others have said we really know zero about the contract SJ was on or what he / the Pozzos have now asked for or offered. Let's pretend that he was on the £400k some have reported. If so £500k is not enough of an increase UNLESS it was linked to generous win bonuses and a bonus for keeping us up. Equally If SJ asked for £1.5m then he is being ambitious if the likes of Poyet is only on £500k and several other Prem managers on less than £1m.
Money apart I cannot see the Pozzos agreeing to a 3 year contract - it just does not seem to fit with their style of ownership. If SJ was happy to accept an 8 month contract back in October then a rolling year contract ought to have been acceptable now.
I think it is all a bl**dy nuisance as we have squandered the advantage of early promotion in getting the squad ready for August. Still of two parties cannot agree on terms everyone has to accept that and move on - neither party may be to "blame" it is just different views on what is best for the club.
I would like to see SJ stay but have more faith in the Pozzos than in SJ. If he goes we will get a good replacement.

Self policing is good - Moderation is not called for - if you do not like a post then ignore it - I bet we can all find hundreds of "off topic" posts on these threads. Superhorns really seems to get under the skin of one or two (hundred that is :) ) on here

I think our friend 'enjoys' aiming to get under the skin ....... mmmm........

There are off topic posts :

    1) which are often quite light hearted banter etc..mutually enjoyable . and
    2) others which are designed to wind up....basically trolling.... and in all the time we have been on not606 there have been only a couple of trolls ( compared with the fun which was 606). - and in the end they both got blocked

It seems that our friend seems to enjoy the second category.

A guideline I would take is yes banter.... but/and keep to the thread...everyone does it pretty much 99% of the time. and really this 'I am better than you' stuff needs to go back to whence it originated.... the politics thread. It has already spilled onto two other threads in the last couple of days.

I suppose the other element in this is that if you are on a short term contract you expect a higher fee... fairly standard.....
Yes... I would preferred to keep him... grew to like him actually...

I agree Yorkie - did not want to step in for reasons already stated but it is noted. The football discussions on here are far better natured than on some other boards and long may that continue. Fully agree on Slav too - I got to really like the guy. And as Leo said, it is really annoying to have lost the time we gained by going up automatically. someone needs to really hit the ground running and the players do not need this upheaval. Interesting times ahead - but I like boring!
