Well as one week started to become two weeks you began to think he must be seriously considering that this was the end......not locating with your family and being seperated for most of two years can bring it's own pressures on any marriage....so he has probably done the right thing by agreeing with James Brent that time was up. Being based still up north certainly would undermine his ability to make sure any new players would live in Plymouth....or very near at least.

Things have improved since he came.....it would have been unthinkable if it hadn't......he did bring in players that were good enough for Div 2 and his loanees certainly made a difference.....yet he couldn't quite get the consistency to get automatic promotion.....and he became frustrated with the players at times and blamed them more than his own ability to get the results needed.

Best of luck in the future John.....I feel he has done the right thing....he wasn't prepared or couldn't convince his family that the job needed him in Devon settled with his family.....ok football management is never a settled job.....bad results and your out.....too good results and your pinched by a bigger club....moving every two or three years is difficult.....I know from my childhood moving every two years with my dad being in the RAF was difficult to have settled schooling etc.......surely Sheridan new this and maybe that is why he travelled without them.

Of course the problem now is who will take over....Please please I hope it isn't Wotton.....we need experience now not another Fletcher type situation....ok administration is behind us this time ....I feel we need someone who has the connections and ability to talk players into coming to Home Park, and has his own staff to bring in. to really shake things up to how he wants it.

Maybe they have pencilled in a few candidates......it must of crossed their minds that he was seriously considering not coming back as one week turned into two....lets see what happens.

Sorry Jools...it was going around twitter earlier this afternoon.....Sturrock has just this week signed a two year deal with Yeovil.....Warnock would need lots of money in wages and players.....he wouldn't last six months with Brent's approach to football.....he would have us in the red in no time if not controlled.....he is probably past it for Div 2 management.

Interesting bits of wording in all that and the press statement reported on Spotlight. We don't seem to have lost a year's salary.

Definite no to Holloway for me due to his dishonourable departure from Home Park the first time and chequered career since. Warnock is too expensive and League 2 motivation dubious.

Who else? Let's hope for a quick resolution, we need several signings

Could you tell me Joe why would we want somebody who firstly is a downright liar and secondly has gotten even club he has been with since relegated .... oh sorry one he got briefly promoted before they were relegated again .... not a very good track record .... also think the club would lose half of the faithful fans if he came back !

Hurray!!!!!!! Firstly I'm glad he has gone. Secondly I'm glad it hasn't cost us a payoff. I have said for a long time now that I did not like Sheridan and he should go. He did not fit the post here. No passion for the club and no affinity with the supporters. Tactically naive.

I want somebody completely and utterly new as Manager. Not Wotton. The sooner the better given it is closed season and there are signings to make.

I'd vote for him any day. I'd even go and watch training.

When my son was around 10(ish) I used to catch a bus to work and bought a weekly bus pass. You had to have one of those cards with a photo on to go with it. Unknown to me he stuck a photo of the above on my card and I of course presented it to the driver who pee'd himself laughing. I gave him a strange look still unaware untill I saw what he was laughing at.

It seems Coughlan is now favourite at the bookies for the job and there is a decent article in the Erald concerning him and an interview he has given.

He fits the bill for me. Young, new to management and one success as a coach under his belt with Southend already. He willl have learned a fair bit under Brown as well. He clearly has a very big soft spot for Argyle and of course why wouldn't he with the playing success he had here. I would NOT want either Warnock or Holloway to be associated. Warnock has contacts but falls out too easily with clubs he is at. He would not resist putting both hands on rather than "advising". Holloway, as jools has already pointed out, has a habit of eventually if not sooner relegating clubs he is at and it becomes all about the boy rather than the club. If we want a comedian then we could have Alan Carr.

So Coughlin is a yes please from me. Get him signed up and lets get on with pre season team assembly.

Hollow head was seen in Plymouth Yesterday!! Did he see Brent?

I would want some one with a bit more experience than Couglin, even tho he has this club at heart.. could be another Fletcher..

Who else is there to get us out of this s h it league?

I agree Joe but if it comes down to Coughlan wouldn't be too disheartened. Surely he would get the players more motivated than JS.
About 'Hollow Words', would be very interesting indeed as he stated on website doesn't want any ties with the club and seen in Plymouth mmm! Have mixed feelings but maybe worth a shot as probably feels has a great piont to prove. He cannot overspend with Brent in charge and not forgetting he left us with that last Shower at the helm, and probably knew what was going on.
Warnock would be a reasonable catch too with vast experience.
Redknapp & consortium could be a possibility now Bournemouth have made it, so maybe narrows down the odds a bit but very interesting indeed.
Suppose a few more sleepless nights then:emoticon-0138-think
