    I think they did it to themselves. Gunners it has always been for me. Or that bloody London team in the crappy red, white and black strip is another name I've identified them with in the past.

    I think it was a case of other fans (probably Spurs) giving them a derogatory nickname, and the Arsenal fans' response was to adopt the nickname themselves, thus removing the stigma behind it, much like Spurs have now done with 'Yids'. It happens a lot. The most famous example of this would of course be the African American population adopting the term '******' to use as their own. It's an effective way of giving the middle finger, so to speak, to those who are trying to wind you up.

    Following hard on the heels of the English Cup Final there is the final of Copa del Rey, kick off time 2100 BST!! Will be interesting to see if Barca rest any of their first choice players. with the CL final a week tomorrow!! Even if they play 4 or 5 of their fringe players I fear they will be too strong for Athletic. Having said this I would love to see Inaki Williams score a brace of goals. I have been singing this guy's praises for a few months now and he is going to get better and better. Reminds me a little of a gangly young John Barnes!!
