I'd love to know who's "good authority" the writer means? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I thought oneill was only here on a one year deal, might mean he's got an extension? I also like Redmond in a free role, his best game under hughton imo was a free role away at west brom where he kept the defence busy. Perhaps not as good at bringing other players into it as wes is but them two free in the play off final was a stroke of genius, risk reward sprung to mind.

The best thing about redmonds recent form is it puts us in such a strong negotiation stronghold. No way is McNally taking less than £15m ish now, if he got £10m for fer! If he doesn't go weve got a player who opposition managers ar perhaps overly scared of due to well documented good form rather than consistency

That would tie in with what McNally said about negotiations with St Etienne. If AN wanted RvW back I'd think they'd be negotiating with him rather than the club. It could depend on how much St Etienne are willing to pay though.

I don't think we should keep E.Bennet, O'Neil, Lafferty or Rvw to be honest if there are other decent options available.

Ofoe and Miquel I have doubts about but they haven't really had a chance so the deserve one although my heart is saying substitute/squad players at best. Time will tell.

I cannot see Wes leaving until another CAM comes in, we simply do not have anyone else in our squad who can do the things Wes does. It is going to be an interesting summer, that's for sure.

I wonder if we will pick up any of Hull's players?

I think that Elliot Bennett does have a role to play in the PL. He has 3 years experience there and is the ideal player to bring on for a tiring Redmond, especially if we're trying to hold on to a lead. His ability to play at RB or as a WB is another advantage. O'Neil is another useful player to bring on in that sense, but whether that is enough for him to be given one of the 25 player slots is yet to be determined. I think Lafferty and RvW both sent the wrong signal when they asked for loan deals, but I wouldn't complain if AN wants to give them a chance in the pre-season.

Would AN see Lafferty in his preferred striker role rarther than a wide man? I imagine as a striker he would be AN's type of player.

I wonder if there might be any mileage in a swap deal with RvW and Max Gradel at St Etienne, as he apparently wants a crack at the PL.

I doubt that Rick. St. Etienne have pretty much ruled out any sort of deal for RvW. He's not really performed that well in Ligue 1 at all.

He's scored 9 goals in 24 starts and 11 sub appearances in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League, which isn't bad. McNally says the clubs are negotiating, so it could happen, but I'm not holding my breath, JK. :emoticon-0105-wink:

AN said in an interview after the final that in the next few days he is looking to bring in two players or at least try to, in the next few days and with dorrands yesterday hopefully there will be another one soon.

Incidentally, here's an extract from an interview with Portueguese website 'record.xl' (from 19th May):
    http://www.record.xl.pt/Futebol/Internacional/franca/interior.aspx?content_id=949528

... Van Wolfswinkel showed some regret for the exchange of Sporting for Norwich. "I left a great club to go to a smaller one, with little history, like Norwich. I had two good years [in Lisbon] and my dream was to play in the Premier League, but it was hard to leave the people with whom I spent several years ... with not so good an atmosphere, and in addition the food... The town was small but good, with friendly people ... However, when the football is not good -... and it was not - I did not feel happy, ".

I believe AN is away on holiday for a couple of weeks, which is thoroughly deserved. Unless he has identified a player and left it totally to DM to do the deal, which, I must say, does not seem to be his style.

I accept that everybody is entitled to an opinion but surely it is folly to suggest that when AN was convinced we would go up from day 1 he would spend good money on Andreu and then try and sell him 5 months later. The same with Wes - why would we give him a new contract and then try and sell him months later? Miquel cost a lot of money for a player who was ' one for the future ' - is 12 months later the end of the future? We have money to spend, although the vast sums quoted include parachute payments if we go down, but we do not have money to waste especially as the Club only get the bulk of the money at the end of the season and this years money will have to pay for any overspend last season. We can only sell players if they are prepared to go and if somebody is prepared to pay good money for them. Turner went down to Championship wages following relegation but under his contract he goes back to Premiership wages. Will a Championship side be prepared to pay those sort of wages to a 30 something CB? Lafferty and RVW cost a lot of money - we just could not ' let them go' but will somebody be prepared to pay, say, £6m for RVW or £2m for Lafferty?
My quick calculation indicates that excluding those out of contract we still have 25 players over 21 under contract so it will have to be one in one out and I am sure that McNally will make sure that the ' one out' is agreed before the ' one in' happens. I am also certain that AN will want to have 3 or 4 of the 'kids' about the squad as presumably they will not count towards the 25 as they are all 21 during the course of next season. This will give him extra cover and limit the need for more ' squad players ' to be signed.

Just heard a rumour that we got AN from Hamilton on the proviso we also took Andreu for £1M, probably a load of bollocks but might explain why he hasn't really featured even on the bench..

Harry Toffolo is getting a new contract apparently.
Haven't watched any of Swindon this season, but a few of you lot on here reckon he's done well. Good enough for back up for Olsson, or not just yet?

The time needed to get him up to the pace and the fitness levels required in the game down here might also explain it. We might see a different player next season.
