According to the article today, Quinn, Bruce and Rosenior were offered deals in December, McShane wasn't.

It's not entirely accurate, as Bruce had already signed, but Quinn is still going to be offered one.

Bruce wasn't even speaking to McShane in December, he was dropped for almost two months and was being made to train with the U21's.

Neither was the answer, they're all players, it was Alex obviously.

Rosenior was, Mcshane might have been but he took exception to Bruce's 'Big time Charlie' outburst and there were rumours about a fall-out with Bruce jr

He hasn't been retained 'at the expense of Mcshane though' as the contract was signed months ago. I can see silly season is starting here. There's no need for this thread really, and do you think Bruce isn't likely to resign anyway, seems like he might go regardless because of his health and because he's a decent fella who feels he let us down

I wouldn't be sure, he looks morbidly obese and his skin is grey, eyes don't look great either. Good luck to him anyway whatever happens, he got us to the FA CUP final and we will never have success like that again. The same thing will happen as it does with Brownie now, people appreciate the good times more as the years go on

Steve Bruce told the HDM in February 2015 that Alex was still waiting for a new contract. Seems that wasn't true and Alex had signed a new contract months before. That may well have been one of the things in the dressing room Harper referred to. It may explain why Davies is upset about not getting a contract extension in 2014 when it seems Alex did.

Mismanagement isn't it if that's correct. I think today is one of those days where you just want the new season to come, new players/manager if it happens, deadwood gone. I've even been having discussions in the street about it with City fans, consensus is they don't understand Rosy going/ Mcshane going, but Bruce jr isn't mentioned, maybe it is all linked like you say. Perhaps Macca will spill the beans when he gets excited on Twitter one day

You would think he would just get involved a bit with training. Go in goal for a bit. Run the line. You know. Get in the gym brucey.

Alex Bruce is a fairly good player for us who's Dad is the manager. There is no real need for a discussion on the street.

The damage to the dressing room, if there was any, will have been done a long time ago. if McShane has left amidst bad blood that will be reflected in the attitudes of other players. Harper has now gone after a slight hint he'd stay, Quinn has possibly said his final goodbye according to OLM's post on the McShane thread, all of which will affect how other hard working players see the club.

We'll see who we are left with when the season starts but we could see a few more of our stalwarts going out the door.

Regardless of anything else, a three year deal for a player over 30 who isn't even first choice seems mental to me.

I think we're a year into the deal already, that's why the HDM think he's got a two year.

When we dropped into the Championship last time, McShane remained on Premier League wages because there were no relegation clauses in his previous contract.

He would have been shown the door or left of his own accord had we not got promoted in the season his previous contract expired.

I'm assuming the contract he's been on since was at the same level but it would have included a relegation clause.

Obviously the club have now reviewed the situation and have decided they can get better players for the same wage, or a player at the same level on considerably less salary.

McShane may have done a job for us in the Championship but why should we have to pay him Premier League wages to do it?

Neither Rosie or McShane have any sell-on value so these were both sound business decisions.
