    Good Morning Everyone,

Leeds Utd, albeit Massimo Cellino has parted company with Steve Head before he even stepped foot at the club...

It was reported last week that Head was joining Leeds to become head of recruitment at Elland Road.

What you may not know it that he is still employed by Norwich City, orbeit has been on gardening leave since Adams parted company with the Canaries back in January.

Head has had 5 months to holiday, its a pretty strange time to pack yer bags, sunnies and flip flops, when you're about to start a new job!

Even stranger though, Cellino has just sacked Norwich' chief scout <doh>

It is 40 years to the day since Leeds were cheated out of victory by Bayern Munich at the e Parc des Princes, Paris.

I'm too young to remember the event, but have watched it on video.

All I can say it that the people who have investigated EUFA, need to dig a little deeper.

    Here is the match summary.

Leeds dominated most of the match and had a number of near misses. After three minutes Bayern's Swedish international defender Björn Andersson had to be replaced by the inexperienced Sepp Weiss after a hard tackle from Terry Yorath, described by Uli Hoeneß as the "most brutal foul I think I have ever seen".[1]

He only played a handful more matches for Bayern. In the 23rd minute, Bayern captain Franz Beckenbauerwas in his own penalty box on the ground and rested on his left arm which subsequently came into contact with the ball. The Leeds players appealed for a penalty, which the French referee Michel Kitabdjian denied.

More controversial, however, was when the referee denied Leeds a penalty in the 34th minute after Beckenbauer tripped Allan Clarke, who was attacking the Bayern goal from the left wing and seemed ready to round Bayern goalkeeper Sepp Maier. The first half also saw German international Uli Hoeneß, later president of Bayern, suffer a serious knee injury in the 42nd minute after a tackle by the Scottish left-back Frank Gray, which would ultimately bring his career to a premature end in 1979 at the age of 27, and thus starting as prematurely his career in club management.

He was replaced by one time German international Klaus Wunder.

In the 62nd minute, Billy Bremner was denied from five metres by a reflex of Sepp Maier in the Bayern goal. Less than a minute later a goal by Peter Lorimer was disallowed, due to Bremner being in a tight passive offside position in front of the goal at the six-yard box.[1]

Referee Michel Kitabdjian initially pointed to the centre circle (indicating a goal) and then Beckenbauer convinced him to consult with the linesman who had run back to the halfway line and had not raised his flag. The referee then indicated offside against Bremner. This decision caused riots to break out.

After a match interruption Roth finished off a counter-attack in the 71st minute with the 1–0 for Bayern after a short pass from Conny Torstensson. This completely derailed Leeds and 10 minutes later another counter led to the 2–0 for Bayern through Gerd Müller after a cross from the right side by Jupp Kapellmann. This put the match completely beyond the reach of the team from England.

The violence saw Leeds banned from Europe for four years, although this was reduced to two years on appeal.[1][2][3] Ultimately, this ban was never applied due to a decline in the performance of the club in the late 1970s preventing European qualification until 1979–80.

Morning Elland. Cellino missed his vocation in life and should probably be the new FIFA president. Did you have to mention that Bayern game. I remember watching that so well and the awful disappointment for weeks, months afterwards. It still hurts if Im honest.
Pearson wont see the start of the season at this rate

Morning all, I wondered where the gardening leave had come from, so he couldn't sign anyway until his contract expired?

Bayern was a nightmare rip off around the same time we were ripped off in the league WBA game anyone and Astles? Seemed the whole world was against us because we weren't a London based club.

I joked the other day that Rossler wouldn't make the start of the season and hoped that Cellino would keep out of the news. That didn't work then and we may need a new coach before August at this rate. Head and holidays though seems a bit of a joke and if true I hope he rues the day he fooked up

Lasting memory for me was the disallowed Lorimer goal. Bremner not interfering with play but offside rule was different then. Worst part was fact referee had given it and changed his mind. How many times since has that happened in football? Probably never. Worst night of my life as a Leeds fan. Relegations and all the other crap dont even come close. Add to that, it was the end of the great team and deep down we knew wed never get the chance again

    Morning all.

Well I cant see the problem of Head going on holliday. Dont know about you, but when I go on holliday I take my phone and lap top/pad with me. I then can do what needs to be done when on holliday. And I would guess that Head has his phone and/or another means of communcation with him. In that case he could still be able to get in contact with his contacts and do some work. He many not even have an office at ER or TA. The other thing is that there are very little that is happening at this time of the season regarding players.

I think the real reason for this is that Cellino just dont want any head of recruitment because he is doing that himself.

I think you make a very valid point Norway, did he make promises to Pearson to get him in that he just can't bring himself to keep? Also, assuming this is true (and it seems to be) it dispels the optimistic theories that Pearson is here as part of a new takeover - so looks like we are stuck with the loony!

Its like a feckin circus, we've got the owner, ring master, lion tamer, clown all rolled into one person, with the manager and Pearson being the trapeze artists and us lot being the (vile) animals. We just need to try coax the fruit cake into the circus cannon and add a "bit extra" TNT!

Actually, as far as I'm aware, Cellino asked where Head was, he was told on holidays, he ripped the contract up before signing it saying Head should be at work for Leeds United.

Realistically, Head was never signed on by Cellino, so can't be sacked as some media like to make out, Austin wasn't it.

The media like to create riots.

I ain't got a problem with Head going on holidays, he probably deserved one, but like the rest of us, if we're starting a job we turn up or we get booted before even starting; Head is a human being, just like rest of us.

I ain't got a problem with what Cellino did as any boss in any industry would've done same thing.

Good morning to MATT STEVE NEILand co from a very sunny Bardsey
Yes I was at this match and was disgusted with the poor refereeing decisions it was obvious that he had been got at the time
It later turned out he was a third division ref from France who had never reffed at this level I heard he was promised 10k a year for life from Bayern
This fiasco was followed by the defeat to AC Milan in Greece I was told by an ex managerthat the ref had been got at a month before the game and he had told Don this when he landed in Greece
THE Head incident I support Cellino on this one the guy has been on holiday for 5 months so why does he decide yo have an holiday now! It shows total disrespect to Leeds he should have cancelled this as he will be wanted for his input at this crucial time of the year Good riddance

You guys missed the point of the Bayern goalkeeper Sepp Maier going to the Leeds end and holding the cup aloft and shouting YES YES YES, he was then pelted with coins, seats and bottles which then spilled onto the streets of Paris.........****ing Kraut.

To be fair don't know the full details of the Head incident yet.

I would have a lot of sympathy for Massivego's position if it turns out that the holiday that Head had booked was a 6 month round the world cruise.

If however it turns out that Head has a long held booking for a weeks holiday during half term with his family and so agreed with Pearson that he would be able to start next Monday. That's all agreed between Pearson and Head and then Massivego finds out he's not started yet and decides to tear up his contract then yes the decision can be seen as pretty foolish considering that it's Thursday and it's pretty unlikely that we'll have anyone actually working in the position before Monday.

****ing joke the club is with Cellino. Like Eire I remember the bayern game. I think Jimmy Armfield was manager and he didn't play Duncan McKenzie because he wanted to give the players their last swansong. I just remember that twat bekenbauer influencing the ref to speak to the linesman and his mind was changed. Stonewall peno to. Although losing to Sunderland in the final of the FA cup and losing to the Saints in the league cup semis ranks up there to, with my disappointments.
