Thats not true, Sterling Archer does it all the time and I'm sure there are others. Mcshane has played his best football this year but it's hard to dodge a fact that we have gone down with him in the team, even if he's one of the few like Brady who can't be faulted.

Think we can only keep one of McShane or Alex bruce with us needing to trim the wage bill to around 25m. Quinny needs to stay with us and with us already being short in the centre mid area its a must.

That's not a defensive issue. It's an attacking and goal scoring (or lack of it) being the reason for going down.

It will be rather ironic if we keep Bruce and get rid of McShane, as Bruce senior obviously thinks McShane is a better option, he's been picking him ahead of junior for the past couple of months.

Interesting line in HDM saying that bruce signed a new deal during the season while macca and rosie chose to wait.

Perhaps its more of a case of them been easy options to release and trim the wage budget rather then keeping them and selling others.

HDM also saying quinny has been offered a new deal, we can say goodbye to thudd and livermore then!!

Will we need to trim much more then ramirez, jela, hernandez, figeroua, sagbo, thud, livermore and n'doye? Fair few quid saved there!!!

mcshane looks as though he is going now which is a big disapointment however I do feel we are quite strong at center back I will miss his whole hearted displays. has for quinny hopefully he will resign for me a great little worker for the midfield. I do feel that Bruce will sort the defence out its more the forwards I worry about if all three do go then we have got to bring quility replacements and I think this is were our season will be make or break

Not when we already have Elmo and Jake Sycamore. (Shame Ash retired.)

@PJBuckingham: Take the end of Ramirez's loan deal into account and you're probably looking at roughly £7-8m trimmed off the annual wage bill today.

Plus the saving on Livermore's wages on top of this?

The Ramirez thing looks like a red herring as we will no doubt fill both our loan spots for the full season, unlike last year (thanks Ehab) although at a greatly reduced rate.

    We are getting there.

Sell - Jellyfish, Hernandez, Huddlestone and Chester to be going on with and start looking at recruitment.

    Onwards and upwards.

    We'll try and keep Chester.

Don't we get more loan spots in the FL? It's 2 in the PL but think it's more in the FL.

Thanks, worth bearing in mind re the loan spots.

Everyone would want James Chester to stay but I fear he will attract such a premium that it would be hard to turn down and wrong to block his career development.

Like Redmond's career was blocked by sticking with Norwich? I think we should keep him for 12 months to push on again, and if we don't then sell him.

If we just keep him for another year, we can't sell him, he'll be out of contract, we should have offered him a new one already, we now risk losing him on the cheap.

I'd offer him a new contract in the opening months of the season with a lot of promotion bonuses written in, and a release clause for 6-7m that's automatically triggered if we don't go up.

So Bruce signed a deal months ago when it was on the table. A shame Mcshane didn't start the season well and upset the applecart then he would have got a deal offered, now it's too late.

Well he wasn't being played was he? Bruce was being picked ahead of him for no good reason.

Giving him James Chester) a significant pay rise and an extended contract at this point in time would not be a good idea and I am not sure it would be possible.

Thanks for the memories and all that, good luck at Leicester (only joking) probably Villa or Southampton or Everton or...

How can he not be playing well enough if he wasn't playing? Daft comment.
