Is he the 1st ever Sunland manager to leave with the fans gratitude? At the end of the day he is getting on for 70. He did a bloody good job but i dont blame him for his decision. As mentioned earlier it would appear he wasn't promised the funds etc but i just think he thought to himself when the dust had settled it was a hell of a way to end yr career and didn't want to risk being sacked next March and spoiling everything.

With Congerton and Dicks contacts I think it could be someone nobody is expecting.

He did a hell of a good job to get the best out of the squad he inherited. Thank you for everything Dick!

I'd like to see Roberto take the job and definitely do not want to see the wally with the brolly anywhere near our club!

Can't be Allardyce cos he wouldn't work under a DOF. Don't want Mclaren either! I'd go for Moyes asap. He will be ready for another crack in England now. Get him in before the mags try i say...

I was sure he'd stay for another year so I'm disappointed, I understand completely though. There can't be many more stressful clubs to manage and health is more important than footy.

Wouldn't like to hazard a guess but I don't want McLaren, or Allardyce especially. Someone with experience I think, not someone new trying to prove themselves.

I hope so mate. Bored of seeing jobs for the boys scheme giving tried and tested ****e the job.

What about the lad who's just left Watford, is he any good?

Be a dream for me to get Howe.

We all have our opinions but at the end of the day regardless who it is he must get our 100% backing.
I would take McLaren. Still think he would do a good job.
I would take big Sam purely to get us mid table boredom instead of a relegation battle.
I would take Moyes, Di Matteo both decent managers with EPL experience.
Non EPL experience I wouldn't mind Karanka given a go.
My big fear is Tho that the funds won't be forthcoming now.

Very disappointed but not surprised by this.

Grateful to DA for conducting himself the way he did and for putting every ounce into our club.

Please not that twat Big Sam, though he seems the most likely candidate now. Clement would've been interested surely if Dick had decided even as late as yesterday. We obviously didn't push him for a decision to allow us time to get PC, was that a mistake? We'll never know.

Hoping for an experienced manager really, DA proved the benefits that holds. Moyes would be my first choice.

Who could be an unexpected appointment based on contacts? Ancelotti would be very unexpected <laugh>. Not quite fantasy but in the ball park of delusion Big Phil. Getting realistic now Avram Grant, Di Matteo, Thorsten Fink or Eric Gerets. All available or obtainable. Not that they're likely(or necessarily the right man) but nobody expected Dick so if Congerton was to use his or Arnesen contacts again then these are the sort of names they've worked with.

Don't blame him. Go out on a high or risk the same fate as OO'Neill Pdc and Poyet.

Don't know who I want. Allardyce is the least risky but would he work with Congerten.

    Certainly don't want McClaren he's a clown.

We were linked with the now departed Watford coach a few weeks back. Hard to judge how good a job he actually did there really

Now that Dick has pulled out I think the only one who would satisfy most of us is Moyes...if we can get him.

Was fairly certain dick would stay so surprised and disappointed about his decision albeit understandable. Dont want mclaren or sam. The guy from watford the same as dI canio and poyet, inexperienced at this level. Looking forward to a leftfield appointment but hope they come with experience.

Although I would love to see it, I honestly can't see us landing Moyes because of the compensation that would have to paid out to get him.
The money is better spent on improving the squad, rather than 'buying' a manager, when there are good managers available for free.

There's a few good managers around who are available, very different to January.

My rankings (of the possible managers available for either club):

    1 - David Moyes
2 - Steve McLaren (his overall record is very impressive Utd, Boro, Twente, etc.)
3 - Sam Allardyce (for you guys not us)
4 - Laudrup (bit of a wild card...)

I think all of the above have experience and would keep the teams up, plus the players couldn't get around having to listen to them in the way I feel they have tried with previous bosses.

Others mentioned are more of a gamble I'd say.

Didn't Ajax invent the DoF more or less? Overmars is DOF at the minute I believe. Could be a good fit.
