... no ... as I've said elsewhere - he has surprised me in terms of his overall ability as a footballer ... I would stand by the fact that he's not the most mobile ... but with the quicker Wes and Wasyl as part of a 3 and with the very quick Albrighton and jet heeled Schlupp also in attendance, he's not needed to be - he hasn't been exposed and has excellent positional awareness as well as being dominant in the air ... without him I feel we would not have had the solid base to use our attacking flair ... hence, for me, offering a two year deal is a no brainer ...

But you suggested Upson was far better? More mobile......Upson? A London cab turns quicker than Upson lol . Anyway yes, Huth has been absolutely outstanding and commands our defense now.

Huth, Morgan and Wasilewski have been brilliant as a 3.

I would give Wasyl a new contract and sign Huth plus another centre half

He has done the simple things superbly. A couple of times against the dramas he chased a ball and had the chance to control it, turn and play it. He didnt, he simply put it into touch for a throw in. He knows his strengths, and that is defending. Think Morgan learned a lot from him, and hopefully so did Moore. Was disappointed with our lack of activity in the January window, but Huth was the best signing we could have made at that time, and the rest as they say was history. Sign him up!

Upson is a better all round footballer when fully fit IMHO - the season before this he was Brighton's player of the season (they did the double over us as we romped that league) ... as Barwell says ... Huth just does the simple things well...

London Cabs have a very tight turning circle because they need to turn around the roundabout in front of the Savoy. You couldn't have picked a worse option :p

Doing the simple things well as a defender is what makes you a good defender
Difficult to compare Upson v Huth now as Upsons legs have gone which is why I questioned you saying Upson is more mobile than Huth. Perhaps you meant back in the day when he was the same age as Huth.

Haha exactly no way Upson could do that quickly and not end up injured for 6 months <laugh>

£3M for a proven premier league centre half who could still have 5 years in him is a bargain

We paid more for Matt Mills when we was in the championship and £3M is peanuts to a prem club

Considering how much we paid for Kramaric and Ulloa and how much an impact he made here, that is a fair price.

Hopefully he won't ask for outrageous wages - we still have to think of FFP.

Huth's contribution to our survival means he has more than earned that sum for the club coffers' already... but we do need to shake off the 'Championship' mentality that some of us still appear to have ... our incomings are far more likely to be around Ulloa / Kramatic levels than this deal if we are serious about establishing ourselves in the Prem ...

£3m is chickenfeed at this level. As a centre back, he could have another 5-6 years in him!

Huth is proven quality and already settled here. £3M really is nothing for a centre half and 30 isnt that old

. not a bargain Ed??? 3 million quid. considering the impact he had to help us stay up and earn 100+ million, id say the 3 million has been paid for already.
A COMPLETE bargain.........also Stoke fans are NOT happy! lol

My first thought was "that looks like too much for an over 30 unwanted defender" then again he's proven to be worth this, even if we can only get 2-3 seasons out of him.
