Its impossible imo that Blatter could be kept in the dark about the blatent corruption as head of the organisation, he has evaded setting foot on US soil recently and if he's indicted I expect he'll go through the extradition process to give himself time to try and cover his fat arse.
Like every crime family(the Mafia included)there's always a weak link that turns grass to get a lesser sentence and as we know, in America corporate criminals get big jail time.

I agree. As head of the organisation he must know what's going on and if he doesn't, he's still the figurehead and as such the buck stops with him. It's like some sort of zombie movie though isn't it, if the front line are taken down, the next [corrupt] line just steps in.

Whether they manage to directly implicate him in the corruption or not, he's ****ed anyway, as he's the President of the organisation and as such, has to take responsibility if it is proven to be rotten to the core.

I'm with you though, someone will agree a plea bargain and implicate him, as it's the Godfather they really want and someone will serve him up on a platter

Ordinarily, yes. But this is FIFA and this is Blatter. He won't take responsibility if there's any way he can avoid it.

Let's hope this really is the start of a turnaround. The USA: Saviours of global football?

    Also: I vote Blatter.

Not even that slippery twat can ride this one out, it's going to hit the courts and the full ugliness of the trough feeding that's gone on for decades will be exposed, and he'll be fully implicated once the squealing commences.

It'll be proper porcorn stuff over the next few weeks.

I can still see him clutching on desperately until he's formally charged, or even found guilty. I just can't see him resigning unless it's the most extreme of cicumstances. I don't know if there's any way for the FIFA members to force him to stand down?

I agree it could get ugly, but if it all finally comes to light, then we can all be thankful.

Football is the game we love and its fantastic that even the poorest and smallest nations are part of the family, but there are far to many non football people running the game and the temptation to make a few bob on the side is easy because they scrutinise themselves, they decide if they're punishable and sanction themselves in a way that never hurts their organisation.

Fifa should be disbanded as an organisation and it should be replaced by a new ruling body with a new constitution and voluntary clarity of its business, otherwise nothing will ever change.

Blatter knows? The whole system is corrupt. UEFA FIFA makes no difference. The very power they have corrupts them. Power without accountability would corrupt every single one of us.

Their very position makes them recipients of "tribute" to those that want something from them. The Qatar world cup bid fiasco was a world cup literally bought by a small amount of disgustingly wealthy people. I reckon the FIFA scammers made a killing on that WC.

FIFA is sitting on billions in $$

Football needs a Worldwide organisation and there's nothing wrong with the FIFA organisation itself as that's merely a framework.

What's wrong is that people have attained positions that wield great fiscal power due to the Worldwide audience for the game, meaning that sponsors and Nations are desperate to be assocaited with it on the Global stage. Thus huge amounts of money are at stake and the kind of people who've made their way to the positions of power and influence in the organisation have been tempted to stick their noses in the trough by big business and Nations bribing them.

They got their heads so deeply buried in it that they thought they could get away with gifting the World's most prestigious tournament to a desert State that has a climate completely unsuitable for football at the time it is going to be played ffs! That decision was a massive 2 fingers to the entire Globe and signalled just how far the corruption had gone thoughout the organisation, as the voting was across the board.

The arrests today will be the tip of the FIFA iceberg, there'll be fingers pointing left, right and centre once the potential jail terms are spelled out to the initial 14.

Once the organisation has purged itself then it can rebuild, but ulitmately the temptations of bribery will never disappear due to the scale of the money that the game generates. What needs to happen moving forwards is that those elected to the positions of trust and power within the organisation are the right people for the job and not merely jumped up fascist dictators like Warner for example

That link I gave earlier proves this - ''With more than $1.5 billion in reserves, FIFA is as much a global financial conglomerate as a sports organization.''
