2 of them have just opened in Leeds, havent tried them yet. Arent they really plain and there's no variety so it's all just about the meat? That's what I heard.
It's just another massive American chain, Byron is way better, prime Scottish beef and it's all cooked in front of you.
Not heard of Byron but I'll keep an eye out for it. 5 guys is all cooked in front of you too. BCC yeah it's just burgers and fries but you can have as many or as few extras in it. It's really a no frills USA burger joint that does great burgers. It's more akin to what you'd get in the U.S. Rather than the usual dire ****e in the UK or the more poncey ones like Handmade Burger Co.
There's one in Leeds but havent been yet. If you're ever in the area I fully recommend Almost Famous, best I've had by a mile and kicks the **** out of Meat Liquor, Cattlegrid and Reds.
Up near Millennium square, next to Nation of Shopkeepers. Thought it was an odd choice of location and it was quiet at first but I went last week and it was rammed. I've been 6 times Reds was good at first when they were trying to impress but after about 6 months of being rammed every night and looking at other cities - Manchester, Nottingham and now London - they totally got complacent and it went massively downhill.
Why's almost famous better? The quality of food? I like with Red's that you don't book, you just turn up and get a rough idea when you can have a seat. I do feel they're too busy to cope with demand a lot of the time though.
I haven't heard of hardly any of these brands. They avoid Hull like the plague. We don't even have a Slug & Lettuce, York had about 6 last time I was there. Again, I'm not aching for them to come, but it tells you how Hull is viewed.
Yeah the quality, it's just miles better in my eyes. They seem to put more effort into it. They dont have the sides that Reds have - mac n cheese, corn bread, pit beans etc - it's all burgers and chips rather than BBQ but if you want a burger and chips it's fantastic. I went with someone recently who is a massive devotee of Meat Liquor, saying nothing would ever beat it and he was totally sceptical. Within a couple of bites he said AF was better. My mate visiting from London said it was better than anything he'd ever had there.
If this is turning into a general restaurant thread then the best new place I've eaten is The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds. It was recently named by the Guardian as in the top 40 in the UK and it's pretty spectacular. It's all degustation or nothing though so if you dont fancy what he's cooking you're screwed. It changes every month though. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...-restaurants-in-britain-observer-food-monthly http://www.themanbehindthecurtain.co.uk/#!menu
Anyone had out from Dope Burger yet? It's just a little takeaway stall, à la Bun in the Oven, at town end of anlaby road. Heard people raving about it, but I won't now go until we get the bummers thumbs up.
It's run by my mates son Very good because he is an actual chef, and a good one, rather than just a burger flipper Try it out
I always associate BiTO with City. Either before a home game or after an away game, if I'd been to a game I always went there. It was horrific.
Sounds like it's the real deal then. I certainly will try it out. It had a distinctive smell to it. But it served me well many a post LA's night.
