****ing hell, crime has got so bad they are ramming ice cream stores. Would the police put cones outside while they investigated.
As for TGI Fridays - I heard they were in talks with St.Stephen's a while back. I went to the one in Nottingham and wasn't that impressed.
I'd be surprised if another ice cream place didn't open up. So many people in there when I go passed. It's very American but I was always surprised something like that didn't open sooner.
I know chains aren't amazing, but the amount of empty units in Hull is worrying. Anything like this, that will get people into the city centre, should be encouraged. I've always thought the empty place that used to have Magma/Sargeant Peppers in it would be ideal for something like a chain, a Wagamama's or something. We need our city centre filling up!!
Agreed why not. I've never been in one so i dunno what they're like. I'm getting to that age I just pick fault with any restaurant meal i have. They're tekkin their time, its not very hot, I could cook a better ****ing steak than this, 8 quid for a packet of Doritos with a bit of sour cream-its note even fresh cream, 6 quid for a Mojito-thats a glass of ****ing ice Sonia you're not having another one etc etc
At least think a bit higher than TGI's! How about an Outback Steakhouse, hardly any in UK and miles better than TGI
The problem with a lot of the empty units in Hull is that they're old and dated with poor lighting, low ceilings and tacky frontages. Most modern retailers and eateries want airy, tall, glass-fronted units. Modern stores to reflect their modern brand.
Maybe to account for the changes to the waterworks and electrics that would also be required? I'm sure the bingo hall had enough toilets for however many people were allowed in at once, but if they're all in one place it's no good when you chop it into 4 pieces. Would it also require work doing on the entrance? One unit with one big entrance might not work too easily when you try cutting it up.
TGI Fridays is ok...ish But Christ on a bike why would you want to campaign for one? It sells burgers...that's about it, and it's been around so many years I thought they'd be going bust now. What else are people excited about?...DIY plans for a Tracy Island? Actually if you want faux American meat in a bun go to Aunt Bibby's. It's very nice And if you want to campaign for a chain restaurant can you please campaign for a Pret a Manger so I can get my ham and cheese croissant fix? Thanks
In an article in the HDM the fact we have a Greggs and they don't was number 5 in a list of 10 reasons why Hull was supposedly better than Paris. City of Culture indeed.
Would be better than an empty unit I guess. But in the last few years, there's been an explosion of burger/grill joints that serve the food on metal trays. They're mostly far superior to TGI fridays. Like boothstach says, we already have aunt bibbys which is much better. Then meat liquor, in Leeds, is another step up from that. Purple pig is **** though. If you want to campaign for a chain, then do it for something like burger & lobster.
