We get relegated next season and end up back in the Championship with our inferior rivals, It's not all doom and gloom, IF we get relegated we end up with hell of alot of money, a great team and a team that will easilly dominate the championship, Personally I think we will stay up but we'll see, if we come down it's not the end of the world. What I want us to do is do what WBA do, go up, and if they go down invest It getting back up as soon as possible, they have done that alot and are now finally getting a stable team in the premiership which they have spent the last couple of years building. So if we come down, which I dont think we will, We are set for the next 4-5 years money wise with a team which is capable of winning the Championship, so to me if we stay up, great, if we come down...It's fine. A win win situation in my eyes
Agree. WBA must be pretty rich with all the parachute payments they've stacked up and with that money they've eventually got themselves in a position to be a stable PL side. As long as we invest wisely in the long term future (which seems like we are) then we're fine
I think we are all optimistic but it's sensible to be realistic as well. Despite the rewards for winning promotion, we will be way below the established teams in terms of financial clout - and financial clout is usually what keeps you in the Premiership. It would be arrogant to assume that we will stay up. The history and statistical performances of promoted teams show otherwise: that we will likely be relegated sooner rather than later and, as a club, we would do well to heed that. Jamie has made some valid points which echo my thoughts in previous posts. We have to be mindful of the reality and cater for the worst case scenario. Should that happen, we would be one of the big hitters in the Championship with the funds to launch a powerful tilt at going straight back up. As Jamie stated, WBA is a good example of a club establishing itself over a number of seasons and I would not be upset if we did a similar type of thing. That said, our style of football is markedly different to most other sides - and it is that more than anything which gives us confidence that we might surprise a few teams that have already marked us down as cannon fodder.
maybe, but your basing that on the assumption that when you come down Huw will spend money, but we all know that Huw is a tight arse. When Huw gives a pound to a begger, he waits for change.
listen guys, we'll never be big hitter's in champs if we come back down, we can't compete with most championship clubs now, so how you think we'll be better off with less money is beyond me, our only chance is to stay up, and the football we play gives us a chance, but we need a bit more quality through out the side.
please log in to view this image I've said before that we need to capitalise on the money, to develop the club, and to become a yoyo club for some years is no bad thing, as we develop to the next level without any debt, not like some clubs I could mention not too far away! Our strength is our possession and passing game, if we can tighten the defence like a ducks posterior, then I think we will be fine, but I won't be too disappointed if we come straight back down, what I don't want to happen is for us to wast all the income on trying to stay up, lining overrated players pockets, though I doubt Huw Jenkins will do that, this opportunity must surely be seen as the chance to develop the club first and foremost, and that I think will be the priority of our board, it will all be about developing and gearing our club to the next level on and off the pitch! Huw's ability to be practical got us to where other teams couldn't , I 'll take his methods over the free spending teams that put a team in financial meltdown , for a quick roll of the dice .
sorry mate, I don't understand what you are trying to say - we may not compete with regards to spending stupid amounts of money, but so what... We've demonstrated that you don't need to, and we would certainly be stronger than we were these last couple of seasons... I am fed up with all these people that say we will be back down, can't compete, blah blah... We are here now, lets make the best of it... If we go down, at least we had a crack and like Jamie said we'll be in a good position to possibly bounce back up... And Bluebird, we are living what you lot are dreaming of, nuff said!
I'd rather stay in the Championship than go up and not compete, from the outside it looks lke you aint even trying to stay in the Prem
We can't compete with most Championship clubs now? I have to disagree, I think you're forgetting thaty we actually finished 3rd in the league! and what do you mean less money? If we go down we will have parachute payments, also we won't spent £90 Million this year, It's simple logic that if we go down, we will be better than most teams in that league.
We heard it all before , "You'll never get to the Premier " if you can't spend big . Well were here & now it's " You'll never stay in the Premier " if you can't spend big . Money's no good if you don't know how to spend it , If Cardiff have learned a lesson , surely it's that
its not about spending big, your not spending at all. Whats the point of winning the lottery if you dont spend anything.
we will stay up .....we are just as good and better than some in the premiership, all we have got to do is be better than 3 teams and when brendan finally gets his squad together then i dont think we will have a problem.....we will stay up...
What Doctor Love said. If you are relegated this season then you can assume that you'll lose some of your better players (Sinclair, Williams, Rangel) if they perform well in the Prem; maybe even Brendan. And as you are struggling to attract players in your position now, the situation will be worse in the Championship. However, if you do manage to stay up, who knows? You'll appear more established, be considerably richer and a more attractive proposition to players. Enjoy you're season whatever happens! Personally I hope you fail miserably although you deserve a crack at the big time and I'll be among the first to congratulate you if you survive!
Some of you make it sound like it will be easy to get promoted a second time. The Championship is full of ex-Premier League teams that can't get back there. The Championship is a tough place to get out of. We could get relegated and never make it back. Also, if we did get relegated, then many players would leave. I think we need to do our best to stay up and not think that if we are relegated that we can bounce back right away.
