So, now the division has been sorted for next season, any away games people are particularly going to try to get to? (fixture list allowing) I'm picking from M'boro, Ipswich (and you lot think it's horrible to get to) Blackburn, Charlton, Forest, Bolton, Rotherham and Bristol City that I've never been to. Also got Cardiff, Brighton, and MK Dons where I've only been to their old grounds. Leeds and Huddersfield I might do just because West Yorkshire Police will be irritated by us being there.
I'm really looking forward to always next season, the Yorkshire derbies obviously, the Midlands old boys and MK Franchise for novelty value.
My first ever away game was Rotherham so looking forward to their new ground. Never made the Amex so hopefully next season will be a favourable date. MK Dons as a new ground must be a damn sight better than visiting that hockey stadium on a freezing Tuesday night. Ashton Gate always a favourite trip. Looking forward to proper away days where the team will look on a draw as two points dropped.
I had a snowball fight season before last, I can't remember which game but Leg Irons(CI posters will know who I mean) got a steward right between the eyes. Sunn was there, can you remember which game it was?
I'm aiming at doing at least 10 aways next year which is something I've never done before. I've done plenty of Yorkshire and midlands grounds so wanting some new 'ticks' next year. Also, is this the first time we've been in the same league as Rotherham since their promotion in the early 00s? I can't remember ever really having the chance to go before
In my hazy memory I seem to think we played them every ****ing month in the early 80s ( I accept this isn't anything like correct, but in my mind it is...and it's added to by one trip to the Blunts where we cunningly got off the train at Rotherham and went by bus, which meant we avoided a Police escort...which meant it was ****ing terrifying, and a stupid decision!)
Bristol is a bit depressing when you see what they have done with their waterfront.i know the river there lends itself to it more than in Hull but I can't help feeling in Hull it wouldn't have been done as well, all sorts of obstacles put in the way by police and others who don't like people being it after 10pm near water.
Bit of a vauge link Rotherham and throwing snowballs . At Rotherham the visiting fans us were in the stand furthest away from the main road and had to walk down the side between the side stand and a railway embankment? the locals used to go up there and throw stones down on the fans leaving the ground. A lump of that black oily rock they use under the railway sleepers hurts a whole lot more than a snowball.
Was that when south Yorkshire buses were about tuppence a journey? We did that a few times. It started when we had the bright idea we had time for a pint at Sheff U and missed the coach home. ****ing hairy in places.
Particularly looking forward to seeing family in Derby and at any games in London (QPR, Fulham, Charlton, Brentford - thank god MiwWaw were relegated)
I got to so few this year I think I will aim for double figures to now I don't work Saturdays. Rotherham is the obvious one, having never gone to a game there. All the Yorkshire one's, but also Preston as I have not been there either.
I'm going to look at going to new grounds. I'm relatively new to away games (this'll be my fourth season). I've ticked off: Sheff Wed, Sheff Utd, Forest, Blackburn, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Leicester, Stoke, Tottenham. I'm looking at Rotherham, Leeds, Preston and a further out one - not decided which (as long as they aren't a night match which clashes with work). Any people would recommend?
Sort of under the banner of away games, when do they announce preseason tours? I'm still crossing my fingers for a U.S. Tour.
I'd have thought we'd be less likely to go abroad as a Championship club than as a PL club. (the Portuguese training camp aside)
