I cannot see that happening either, there will be some element of a commercial mortgage (over a 10 year period in my view) in there some where as it makes good tax sense to do so, and doesn't tie up your trading capital........
Did I mention in full? But you can bet that at least 25% will come from the club as it makes sense to get the lowest rate for mortgage. Plus let's not forget the expansion , I doubt that will be in the form of a loan. I suspect they will spend money doing the job and increase the mortgage as the value of the stadium increases.
2-3 years ago, I'd snap your hand of at that price. A little too old for the price now imo. I'd be happy if we were to get him for 5-7 million.
Do you seriously expect the club not to plan ahead? This is not something they can pop down to hsbc and ask for a £15m loan to expand the stadium. They are planning and putting money away to fund both the expansion and the purchase of the stadium.
Of course the Board has plans for the future, but we are talking about a transfer pot for this Summer. The Bony monies are in addition to the £78m from the PL, Gate Receipts (including Seasons), Commercial income etc. As for buying the stadium, they have to agree the price. Then, if acquired, decide whether the cost/benefit analysis for any expansion makes economic sense.
Yes I have already mentioned what I think they will do on this window, 3 players and £15m-£20m budget unless we lose some of our players we wish to keep, then funds from that will buy replacements. I would wager quite a lot that the price has already been agreed, and that it will be staggered payment schedule to pay for it.
Monk said he wants 5 or 6 players before the season starts.....If Monk is not given at least £35m - £40m to spend then that will show lack of ambition to do better than this season where we should be looking to break into the top 6.....We cant do that with just good players and with the extra £5.5 billion coming into play next season then its imperative we do well next season....
Linking ambition with money spent is a dangerous course of action, those most ambitious club therefore must be one where they were spending I believe 130% more than what they were making. Welcome to Portsmouth! Another ambitious club was Leeds, do we really want to go down that path? We do it the Swansea way and that means on a tight budget.
£30-£40m is peanuts in our 5th year in the premiership. If we start spending like we were in the lower leagues we will end up back there...Bigger clubs are predicted to spend £100m -£200m+ If we want to stay here then you have to buy players in the £8m - £12m bracket and as monk dont want to sell and wants 5 or 6 players then he wont get much change out of £50m ...Just 3 Quality players will wipe out The £30 - £35m anyway.
History actually agrees with me Dai http://www.transferleague.co.uk/swansea/english-football-teams/swansea-city-transfers
The £30-£35 million transfer fund I think we need is not to push us forward but just to consolidate our position.
It all depends if we can get players and i mean quality players on a free...£20 m will relegate us as being to weak as we wont get quality enough for 2 players let alone 5 or 6....We will have to have a sizable kitty as you wont get freebies all the time. £15m we had to pay for bony should tell you that....peanuts buys good players but not quality...
Because of the rewards from 2016........Well in a nutshell........transfer fees will escalate.Fact!!!
