Comparing Pantilimon to De Gea mate, do it over the same time period. We were ****ing awful in our first 11 games with more injuries than the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan.

Interesting stuff, I do like a good stat although I'm not as much as a believer in them as you are.

I just enjoy them, not so much a believer. I disclaim every time I use them fella. It's nothing more than comparing stats from our best performers to the leagues best performers, or addressing prominent subjects. My opinion isn't forced on it. For example you brought up the keeping stats, my opinion would be the starts don't and can't represent the quality and technique of the de Gea's goalkeeping which in my opinion is where he's shown himself develop into a world class keeper this season. Think you're reading too much into my incentive for posting the stat. Take the Larsson set, I'd say his stats show that this season he's shown himself to be a decent all round Midfielder, but do i think he's in the same league as the other two? Do I heck, though I do think there's been a dozen better Midfielders than Coutinho this season and he shouldn't have been in the PFA team of the year. The Catts stats, there's been a lot of noise in regards to referee tolerance so I took all of the highest fouling midfielders until I got to Catts, took the relevant information and processed it. My opinions on it? A person could reasonably interject that the severity of his tackles can't be presented which would be completely valid. My personal opinion on it, seeing every game Catts has played this season is half his bookings weren't even bookable offences ranging from bad decisions to good tackles to very soft cautions. But that's my opinion based on seeing not the stats which is the sort of debate that it should create. It's good to talk about footy.

I just like the debate it can generate that's all. You get me blud? ;)

Fouls per card stat is a good one Catts gets booked about every fourth foul where the rest range from 6 to as many as 12 it clearly shows refs are much faster to book Cattermole. Fellaini and Wanyama combined committed 129 fouls and got a total of 14 cards Catts made 54 and got the same

Marouane has played the majority of his season in a much more advanced role than Cattermole to be fair, the likelyhood of getting a booking in the final 3rd of the pitch is far less than if you play the 'chopper' position that Cattermole plays. It's part of his natural game, he takes them for the team, ask him to remove that aspect of his game and he'd be half the player.

I would attribute referee bias to a portion of his bookings but I would suggest his combative approach is also a huge factor. The severity of tackles resulting in yellow cards has nowt to do with it, look at la liga for the worst cases of yellows-for-nothing in the world.

Cattermole would get two every game in la liga.

If Catts made the same kind of fouls in the same position himself ratio would still be unfair how many little trips and nothing fouls to break up play early do the the likes of Matic, fellaini, Milner etc get away with without a card? (funky find this out :p) the thing is a ref sees catts and knows he's my first yellow in the tunnel! How can the refs book people for multiple fouls unless there's a set rule and it's applied to all

You'd have to provide more evidence than a Sunderland fan with Lee cattermole's best interests at heart to convince anybody to take you seriously mate.

I'd like to see some examples of the fouls he gets booked for that you're disputing.

Not being facecetious but I'm not bothered about being taken seriously on the internet. I get what your saying and I saw a article that listed all his booking the other day I'll try to find it. But to try to explain my point catts is a so called dirty player but hasn't been sent of for quite some time now Fellaini is not considered a dirty player but was sent off for violent conduct on Sunday and is certainly no Angel apart but will he be booked every four fouls next season like catts inevitably will

Fellaini is considered a dirty player though, has been for years.

Kind of proves the point I was making.

You have this all wrong mate. Catts is an angel and is discriminated because of who he was and not what he is now.

I shall be following you Bry. I am a huge fan of stats!

Nope no Angel but not the player he was a few years back either I'd think that's fair or have I got it all wrong and he's a danger to society and all their shins...

I actually think he is being played in the wrong position. Penis Avocado got it right and played him further forward. His passing ability and lack of tackling ability goes a long was in proving this (in my opinion)
