We should do a new thread,

"Will FSG take us forward"? my view is they're probably close to putting us on the market, as soon as they've done the stadium upgrade and now that FFP is effectively being scrapped (introduction of ffp was one of the reasons they said they bought a prem club)

I think they have taken us forward. They have improved us massively off the pitch in terms of commercial deals and sorting the stadium, without loading a lot of debt on the club.

They have also TRIED to sort things out on the pitch by investing in a young manager with the remit of promoting youth and development. They have re-invested a lot of money back into the playing staff but it has been sadly wasted.

The problem is what do fans want? If fans want us to build 'properly', it takes time and we have to promote youth. This is what FSG are doing.

But if they want instant success, then Oil money is the way forward, but then you have to expect ruthless decisions i.e. Rodgers would still not be in his position right now. He would have gone at Xmas.

The problem with that is FFP. They have relaxed the rules on that for this summer but they could be strict again after that.

The only ways around that are the crazy foreign commercial deals to boost revenues to allow for increased spending.

I think FSG have got it spot on. They're doing the right things with the right intentions. The execution needs to be better.

Do they understand the club though and the fans expectations. A new unproved manager after sacking Dalglish wasn't popular. Would Dalglish have done better or worse than Rodgers? Yes he was out of touch but would it have turned itself around the more he got back into it. 2 finals in one year not many, if any, experienced managers have done that.

Dalglish was the wrong appointment in the first place. He did a good job as a caretaker and that should have been it.

I think the owners wanted better but can't think of too many other managers that were available in that summer? Maybe AVB ..

Rafa average finishing spot 4th in his time with LFC
Kenny and woy together averaged 7th
Brod is averaging 5th so far over 3 seasons, did we really expect better in the beginning?

Bear in mind that Rafa had to contend with European football each season and was up against better competition. Man United under Fergie, Mourinho in his first stint, and a more formidable Arsenal.

I think Dalglish was just what was needed at the time. A real boost for the fans, plus silverware, what's not to love. Personally I'd have taken a chance on Dalglish for one more season. Also you should never get rid of a manager without having an eye on prospective replacements which they don't seem to have done. RM getting photographed in US etc. etc not how it should be done.

I expected steady year on year improvement. Even had last year never happened, this season is an abomination compared to Rodgers first season.

I think appointing KD after Roy was a stroke of genius - because the whole club was divided, similar to how it is now. It was in turmoil, and there were few people out there that could unite a club as quick as Kenny did.

But it should only have been a short term role. But because he did well, I think the owners simply didn't want to risk p*ssing off the fans.

year one was not that good. it frustrated suarez no end playing with no support and we scored 47 goals and conceded 40. this year we scored 52 and conceded 48.. had we not had that abortion of a last match they would be remarkably similar seasons

we got last 32 in Europa and actually did better in cups this year!

year 1 was not so hot.

Year 2 was suarez proving to the world he's not just a biter and this weekend the culmination of his biting will be a CL medal. Every time he bites he does better and better. 31 goals and a joy for us

year 3 looks to be back to normal.

no improvement in defense over 3 years, still can't defend set piece at all.

no improvement in attack over 3 years

two semi finals, yes in last year but very poor european campaigns.

all in all He talks a good game but the talk and the thing you see o nthe pitch are just totally different.

You have to give mark huges respect. he went into stoke who were a bunch of hoofing dirty cloggers and he had his style and got them playing it and didn't mouth not that anyone would notice given it is stoke but he delivered the exact game rodgers mouths off about... pressing intensity passing with a far inferior base of players but he got the results that put his avergae side up at thier highest ever position in the prem

so yeah... talks of style and a plan... doesn't really believe in it enough cos the moment anything goes wrong the theory goes out the window totally.

    worst use of statistics ever.

kenny dalglish take over in 18th and gets up the tbale year one and then delivers two cup finals and no player gave a crap for us after league cup win to get us higher.

    Rafa got sacked in 7th.

Rodgers has one fluke year and you use it to make him out to be better than he is (marginally)
