You may have seen the story in the paper on Sunday about Chiquitos shutting down and fans wanting the building to be taken over by TGI Fridays. http://m.hulldailymail.co.uk/TGI-Fr...lls-fans/story-26555302-detail/story.html?001 Since that story, this campaign has been happening on Facebook. At the time of posting its at over 1,600 likes (compared to 400-500 it had before the story. It's the craze at the minute. Although I think it's more because we don't have one in Hull so we want one? The luxury would probably soon wear off.
I should point out I'm not the guy mentioned in the article or who set up the Facebook page before I start getting all the hate Just passing on a link.
Hull lacks a quality high-end fish & chip restaurant. Something like Ramsden's used to be about 15-20 years ago.
I've been to one whilst in America - it was great. Went to one in London - not so good. It's something that doesn't translate and honestly shouldn't.
Is this thread for real? You mean to tell me people actually want TGI Fridays to come to Hull? There's 3 I know of in Leeds that have been here for ****ing years and I wouldnt eat there if you paid for my food for me. And that's not being snobbish, it's just ****. If this is genuine then it really paints a very bad picture of Hull. 1) it must be the only major city in the UK that hasnt already got a TGI Fridays and 2) people are actually excited about it potentially coming. Jesus H, there really is some work to do ahead of 2017....
I am off to New York later this year or early next year. Do you think they'll have one in Rotherham. Are they advanced as having a McDonalds in Rotherham.
I know sod all about TGIF. Personally, i have lived 57 years without one and I know I can go my remaining 36 years without one.
I know they have. But the younger folk haven't been "going mad for them" as they have the last 1-2 years. I look at my Facebook wall and it's constantly got somebody tagging themselves in at TGIs. I meant luxury in the sense that when you have he ball, the dog wants it? As soon as you give the dog the ball and stop showing interest, the dog doesn't want it anymore. It'd be the same as that with a restaurant. Oh wait... I meant novelty not luxury.
It just sells completely basic food - think burgers, chips and their massively groundbreaking Jack Daniels sauce.....
I wish was the owner of that ice cream joint on Newland, it's always rammed. I hope they do butterscotch flavour.
