The fact that he appears to have turned us down after the Leicester game will not be forgotten by the fans.

He wouldn't be my choice simply due to him turning us down. From a footballing point of view we could do a lot worse though. Whoever gets it though, please, please can we give them time to achieve something before getting the placards out. Whoever it is then let's get behind them!

Exactly. But every manager would of done exactly the same in that position. Its just so boring, there are almost no managerial appointments out there that would not be doomed before they have started. I think he would be worth a go.

I can't speak for everyone, but I posted something close to happiness at the thought of McLaren.....in JANUARY! The ineptitude of Charnley let that ship sail, then when we "allegedly" went calling again with 3 to go, he didn't fancy it. For me, he should come at the first chance, not the third when he's out of a job. I'd have happily supported him as a Pardew upgrade, but as essentially the chosen cardboard box for a destitute has-been? No thanks. Bridges burned.

Sadly, we've got that fcking bespectacled nonce Charnley still, somehow, at the top of the tree so what else could anyone expect but a bad, ill-conceived idea that realistically is designed to pull us back to 12th and nothing more. It needed ripping up Sunday night. It's Monday and it's deathly quiet, again. Same old Sports Direct FC, I'm afraid, this sh!t will never change.

I'm guessing he didn't take the Newcastle job when it was (presumably) offered because he didn't like the toon hierarchy. I can't imagine he would have chosen to stay at Derby giving that they'd already lost out on promotion. So, what's changed? Certainly not the Newcastle hierarchy.

Oh I know, he's out of a job

All rumour, of course, but one was that he - like Remi Garde - was being told who the backroom were (i.e. Carver and the five-year Toon crew). That's why it never really went anywhere. As you say, perhaps beggars no longer want to be choosers and he can get a free ticket to Premier League mediocrity. We must be a dream job for middle-of-the-roaders. The ambitious will never come here, but destitutes like McLaren can look at Alan Headbutt/I Don't Do 2nd Half Of Season Pardew and John I Can't Win For Sh!t Carver easily holding onto their jobs and think "fck me, all I need to do is win some, lose some, say nice things about Lee and Mike, and I've got a job for life."
