1. Real madid don't give any e any cash to build their team they give them a team and say achieve 2. Real Madrid do not allow failure or a hi t of failure. Anchelotti s job was give in Feb and he could have won the cl and still Gone. 3. Lfc have lots of cash and waste it. 4. Lfc over past 5 years have been about the same. Last season was a pure fluke 60 odd point is our lot while we don't mix it on wages and just pay just high enough to get tossers who think it's great and they've made it. Borini is prime example.... whatever is enough and there you go. I got paid. Lfc pay 5th best according to some and then what? we get to a certain level which had lots and lots of average players on good money But no change of 150-300k on just one real ****ing class player
Some of our dyslexic posters think the thread is called A Sale Of Two Titties. Sterling and Balotellli.
No. He deserves a massive bollocking and being put in his place. Accept new terms (DoF, defensive coach and a assistant that will tell him when he's being a twat) or ****off. Won't happen like that though, we'll probably give him a contract extension and payraise!
And United. What is our net spend for the last two seasons? Not for one minute saying that Rogers and the 'Committee' have not failed abjectly, but some headline figures comparingour spending to Madrid's, Chelsea's, City's and United's are misleading. That said, all the more reason why we're ****ed. Same manager, new manager, it doesn't matter. Even if FSG gve us £200m net to spend in the summer (and don't include the Sterling money in that as everyone appears to include the Suarez money in last season's spend), it still wouldn't get THAT squad into the top four. We have one class player, but even Coutinho wouldn't be a regular in Chelsea or City. We have the worst goalkeeper in the top half of the league(even in the top 16?), our midfield is mediocre and our attack, apart from one crocked player who's lucky togive us15games a season, is woeful. And our bench is not even as good as some Championship squads. All in all, I really can't see how we've progressed at all since we sacked Kenny.
Never thought I'd say this but Mike Ashley said it for exactly what it should be during his interview yesterday morning; it's his job to make sure there is the maximum financial support available but it's other people's job to maximise the pound for pound impact that finance has. FSG have provided the funds but the next level down has failed. In my mind, that is the committee who can't do anything within Brod's blessing.
Apparently most of the squadarein Dubai as a send off for Gerrard, he must be thinking ****inh hell, im worried leaving you lot at it Did you see BR saying he was due to go straight to Wembley to watch his son play forSwindon but wouldnt after yesterdays game? Oh yeah here it is “I’ve got two apologies to make,” he said. “Firstly to the supporters because it was nowhere near good enough or competitive enough from any of us representing Liverpool today. A very, very poor performance in that first half. “The second apology goes to my son [Swindon player Anton Rodgers], because I was supposed to go down to Wembley to see him in the [League One] play-off final, but I can’t leave here and shoot away after that. “There’s a lot of reflecting to do after that performance. Just a really disappointing first half. Anyway all that is irrelevant, the point I was going tomake is that the review will take place where BR meets up with Mike GOrdon amongst others and obviously reviews the season Kenny was sacked after this review last time. So when he was here his position may not have been under immediate threat at this stage but after the review they might get rid of BR like they did that time Especially if he doesnt agree to DOF etc like already mentioned Lets not foget its a similar situation but Kenny got us to two finals and winning one of them
Sky Sports and the papers are reporting he'll keep his job, but like dev said he should relinquish some of his duties to people that can do a better job of them.......if he gets kept on.
Absolutely, surely they'll suggest it and he;ll have to accept it DoF, defensive coach and an assistant seems a lot of appointments though just so he can stay DOF Iknow was touted before but a better manager would bring his own peoplein to cover the other two
Completely agree - I think some fans need to let go of this notion of the 'Liverpool Way' and being loyal to people who simply aren't good enough. And there's a stigma attached that sacking your manager after only a few years is bad thing. Look at most of the successful clubs around Europe - they don't hang around when things go bad. They make tough decisions and they make them quickly. And then if fans do want us to be patient and build a squad, then they have no right to complain about our recruitment policy of buying young talent and developing them over the next 3+ years.
Worst meeper in top 16?! Let's not be silly, Mig may have his weaknesses but he's been very good 2nd half of the season. Theres no no reason why this squad can't get into top 4. same squad plus Suarez got us 2nd last year so same squad plus 1 or 2 good additions would have got us 4th no problem. I know it now looks like we missed out massively, but best United and I think we'd have got 4th because we wouldn't have faded like we did. If if sturridge had been for for half the season I think we'd have got 4th. He would have been the difference in games and won us 10 points easily
If we're going to bring in a DoF, then he needs to come in before the manager. The DoF will be crucial as he will find a manager who is in line with his own philosophy on how to take this club forward. I know there are a few reports in the media this evening about how Rodgers's is safe. The same assurances were given to Kenny, only for him to be sacked a few weeks later. I won't believe anything just yet.
How can you have a strategy of buying and developing young players over three or four years if the manager is going to be chopped and changed every two or three seasons?
Stevie Heighway worked with the youth team under 4 or 5 different managers at LFC so its not impossible that our present set up will kept intact. The U-21's have got a goalkeeping coach, pity the first team never. There's a fair few involved in our youth and U-21's Alex Inglethorpe Academy director Andrew Powlesland Head of Academy business Nick Marshall Head of Academy football operations Phil Roscoe Head of education and welfare Michael Beale U21s manager Andy O'Boyle Head of fitness/ U21 fitness coach Andy Renshaw Head academy physiotherapist/ U21 head physio Mark Morris U21s goalkeeping coach Tim Jenkins Head of development analysis Richie Partridge U21 physiotherapist Dave Moss Academy chief scout Matthew Newberry Senior Academy scout Neil Critchley U18s manager Liam Kershaw U18s Academy physio Mike Garrity U18s coach Neil Edwards U18s goalkeeping coach Joe Lewis Sports therapist Oliver Morgan Assistant academy sports scientist Ian Barrigan Head of local recruitment Kyle Wallbanks U18s performance analyst Scott Mason U15-U16 performance analyst Pepijn Lijnders U16s coach Michael Yates Head of U6-U9
That wasn't buying them in though, that was developing local talent. I suppose the same principal would apply but what I was getting at is how would we convince players to join when they're probably never going to play for the manager trying to encourage them?
Because under a DoF/Continental model, removing the manager is a very small task. Managers come and go. Having a consistent strategy set by the DoF means that there is little disruption when a manager leaves .The training, the style, the philosophy, the profile of the players all remain consistent. Changing your manager every year even should make little difference.
Because the manager should not be dictating the philosophy of the club. The club has an identity and should be appointing managers to meet that criteria. Players should be playing for the club, not just the manager.
Yeah, we have a state of the art academy but not so sure the whole club is connected together like at other clubs, Fergie for instance used to watch their U-21's regularly, don't think Rodgers bothers with ours does he?
