I'd just like to say that after a terrible season we do have 1 very big positive that is making me very excited for next season, and that is Jordan Ibe.

Ibe spent the first half of the season on loan at Derby where he had a fairly impressive time. Steve McClaren described Ibe as not being a team player in his early weeks at Derby, but had great compliments for the way Ibe's team spirit improved.

In January we recalled Ibe. Ibe stated he was hesitant about the return as he thought he might not play. But he went straight into the first team and hit the ground running.

Ibe has been very exciting, and following his new contract I feel very positive about his future. He could play a big part for us next season.

  2. Worth pointing out that Derby were top of the Championship and looked to be going up until Ibe left. Their season nose dive after that.

    he's done ok.

he has a way to go. he is very much glued to a wing so he needs to be brought on and add those goals he talks about to his game.

You want a strong lad like him running past your main striker and i think he can do that. thats is not coutinho's sort of game... and sterling has proved not to want to do it when the chips were down so....

    we will see.

he used to do that in the u21 all the time, he was a beast of a player compared to others, shrugging them off at will, whether he can do that at senior level where they obviously have more strength time will tell, but he has that in his game.

he needs someone to play off to do it.

I am willing to bet even lambert up front and he'd have done more than our lot yesterday.

    shocking selection one feels.

Not so sure. Two different players - Sterling is versatile and can play centrally, Ibe is more of a traditional winger.

Both exceptionally talented and I rather keep both.

Ibe seems to have his head screwed on and he also seems very driven to succeed. He showed signs of being a very good player last season and like the op says he's something to get excited about. The squad needs players like Ibe to keep improving, if we can add the right quality into this young mix then we may surprise a few.
Like most though I have my concerns when it comes to the purchase of these quality players.
