I root for all British teams in Europe...yes, even the Scottish ones, but have followed Arsenal (at least vaguely) for about ten years before I supported Saints. Usually go for the underdogs in the FA Cup, but don't care if Villa lose by 6 goals this time. There is only so sporting that you can get.
I follow Arsenal from a distance to see how our ex Players are fairing, can't say I like them or their Manager, but you have to respect what they have done that is good.
Some people say that you can't have a second team, but you can. The difference is that you enjoy your 2nd teams good fortune, but turn over and watch Mrs Brown (insert any TV programme here) if they lose. Only Saints can hurt me.
I like Arsenal out of the traditional "big clubs." And I want to play in Europa. But I'm still rooting for Villa over Arsenal. They are the underdog, it would mean something to them, and if they win they deserve it. We had our chance and we didn't take it.
I don't doubt your alligiance to the Saints, but I certainly don't know anyone that isn't desperate for Arsenal to win the cup (except a couple of Pompey fans that I happen to work with).
I cheered on Arsenal last season in the final and this season will be no exception. They were my premier league team of choice when Saints had their hiatus. Despite the player pinching, grumpy interviews and ridiculous coats. Wenger is my favourite non saints manager of all time because of how his teams play the game.
Wouldn't mind Wenger as our manager...I think he tries to play the game the right way and certainly gives youngsters a chance. He may appear to have held back our youngsters, but that is mainly because they should have stayed here in a less pressurized environment for a season or two.
[reaches for sick bag again ] Whilst I have respect for Wenger there's no way I'd want him as our manager. Fairly humourless if criticism is aimed at himself. Gets himself emotionally backed into a corner on various sporting occasions when holding his hands up would have been better. Believing he is right way past the point of arrogance and hard up against intransigence. I could go on. No thank you. I'm glad he's Arsenal's manager. Long may that continue.
I went to my first game at the Dell to watch Arsenal but I fell in love with the Saints. Arsenal though will always remain my second favourite team. What I am really struggling with is why do I hate teams that play in blue?
