What did John Logie Baird actually invent?
    Please say television.

What did Alexander Graham Bell invent?
    Please say telephone.

You know what happens next if you do, don't you?

Logie Baird invented the first coloured picture TV and he has always been mentioned as an inventor of the first picture I went to school with a lad who told me was a relative
Bell has always been described as the inventor of the telephone in fact my wife tells people to give her a bell in other words a phone call so yes I will

it doesn't matter, love the place and never plan on leaving.

Its not Aussie narrow-mindedness, its aussie pride. There's a big difference and the people here are completely accepting but if you start being disrespectful to those who died in the war, especially on a day of remembrance, then your not gonna like the reaction your given. That is the way it should be imo. you should have a certain level of respect for those who died fighting to help shape your current lifestyle. If someone isn't gonna be respectable and thankful for that then in honest truth **** off out the country.

If you are a regular person walking down the street who happens to have not bought a poppy I'm not complaining. If you are a person in the public eye where your employer has paid for it and asked you to wear one you shouldn't have any reason to say no.

Josh, just fcuk right off. You're basically saying that you Aussies (aye, you too) are proud to hound someone who doesn't choose to do something in the way you want them too. And why the fcuk should corporations make non-contractual decisions for you? Basically, you're saying 'fcuk personal choice'. Well, matey, if the jack boots fit ....

Shut up you whining ****s. You lot act 15 let alone 40 (I guess). I'd pick pickets with each one of you individually but quite frankly I can't be arsed. Stop acting like you've won the Internet Hardman Competition 2015. It was the lack of pettiness that attracted me to this forum.

No im not just gonna **** right off because you are getting annoyed. I never take up issues on this forum about things other than football but this is something I believe in.

I cannot for the life of me understand why someone wouldn't want to remember those who died for your country. And I'm not talking about freedom of speech here. I get everyone has a right to freedom of speech, what I wanna know is why someone would exercise that right to go out of their way to publicly insult all of those who died in the war so you can live the way you want to today.

It IS about freedom of speech, and as long as it's legal, you can say what you want. Those who died in the war defended everyone's right to free speech, and you disrespect the dead by trying to disassemble what they died for. Just stop & think, matey.

Yes it is completely legal but that doesn't mean its right. I understand exactly the point your making. I'm not even arguing freedom of speech.

My question is, WHY would you not want to wear a poppy? What possible reason would you have to not respect those that died for your country?

Freedom of speech is at the root of this discussion, therefore it's relevant. I personally have no idea why people would not want to wear a poppy, and I'm not even sure I would understand or agree even if I did know. But I would die for their right to have that view. As our forefathers did.

You should wear the poppy. But you shouldn't judge those who don't for whatever reason they don't want to. Maybe I'm too Liberal.
