Morning All, Hope the title didn't fool you! Well done to Grayson and Preston. They have made it to the Championship! It beggers the question.... Would he make a better manager than Rosler? Beckford has been released by Preston. Will be interesting to see who makes a play for him! Would Grayson have been able to get more out of the LUFC players than Redfearn did (apart from his academy favourites)? Looks certain that we are going to sign a goal keeper soon. The two names being banded about are Paul Robinson, and Cardiff's Simon Moore. One of my work pals grew up with Simon on the Isle of Wight, and is still mates with him today. I have asked him to call Simon, and find out if there is any truth in the rumour... I wonder if we are looking for a number one or a reserve keeper?
Morning El (et al). Aren't we supposed to be looking at the Southend 'keeper too? Strikes me that a 'keeper was not our priority, but hey ho!
Morning WJ. Looking at the team I wouldn't say a keeper was top priority, but that is where most of the talk is. Other rumours are West Brom's Chris Baird and Alex Pearce of Reading
Good morning from a dull cold Bardsey to Matt Neil and co Beckford has not been released by Preston but by Bolton I think he will sign for Preston and Leeds was mooted so he could get more wages Yes a lot of speculation about goalkeepers I like Silvestri but he did himself no favours when he called off before the Charlton game I think Baird is far too old but Pearce I would like but that would mean Bamba not joining Forwards Nick Powell would be a great aquistion Knockeart ticks all the boxes Grayson I have always had great faith in him and he has done well again this will be his third promotion
Morning Mike, Aaaahhhhh, gotcha, good point. Good thing you're awake!!! We are talking Chris Baird, not Ian! <LAUGH> gET YOUR POINT THOUGH. Mike, you're not Knockeart's agent are you?
Matt Baird I think is 34 that's why I think he's too old Knockeart is just a player I would love in my team why he went out of favour just baffles me and I like the looks of Powell too but how much will he cost after they paid Crewe£8M for him .The trouble is they have too many players in front of him at MU Anopther player I would like is Jamie Ward I think 4 goalkeepers have been mentioned so far Bentley I heard Brown talking him up after the final at Wembley so they are expecting !m Your man at Cardiff they paid 150k for him and now for some reason want 500k Robinson is a freebie and Al Habsi was my idea PEARCE is an excellent defender
I would just like to echo ellands thoughts and say well done to grayson & his team, which brings me to ellands point about,Would he make a better manager than Rosler? not sure that he would, with this squad, but their again i think we would be looking at a totally different type of team that we have now (given free reighn of course) going back to the heady days of that cup victory over man utd & promotion to the championship,he turned a lot of that team into household names, unfortunatley after the clearouts,we could not build on that, which in my opinion contributed to the position we are in,but its no good harping on about it,me included,as grayson i don,t think will come back to us,and why should he?as next season i reckon Preston will be up their pushing for a top six or better, dont't forget lads he is now more experienced now,and is still learning, eventually i think leading premiership clubs will be looking at him.
The thing with Powell is whilst he did ok at Wigan on loan, he then went to Leicester who terminated his loan agreement due to lack of commitment in training. Whilst maybe a different manager/coach would be able to approach that differently, is this another player we would want to take a risk on, even if we were able to afford him in the first place. Ward is already touted as signing for Forest and Knockeart is speaking to Standard Liege. Whilst I don't disagree with your sentiment that these players would be a vast improvement to our squad, we also have to be realistic and accept that the majority of players that we would like to sign, are most likely going to be chased by other clubs, and at the end of the day, it would have to be a pretty hard sell to convince someone with multiple options to play at the same or similar level as the Championship, to actually come and join our club.
GRRRR a Goalkeeper thats one position we are actually ok in,what about someone who can kick a ball in that big rectangle thing at the end of the pitch,(sorry i forget the name of it) and someone who can run down the wing, but bring the ball with him (which would help) and get to the byline,i am purely guessing of course, but THAT might actually improve our team.
sOME GREAT POINTS. I look at players that we have let go like Jonathan Douglas who has been great for Brenford this season, and think to myself, whats happened? I look at Noel Hunt and Luke Varney, who we could not wait to offload, and both players made it to the play offs, and think to myself WTF...
