Spending more money is indeed more likely to equal success.

But it doesn't always work like that.

City have spent a ****load recently, £40m+ on players and god knows what on wages.

Yet we have still been relegated.

Hence balkan tigers' correct point that there is more to football than just throwing money at it.

Obviously there is more than JUST money, but, money is still the decisive factor because that gives you the quality, and thus the success you wish to buy.

Hang on, I think we're agreeing, just in different ways.

    Are you my missus?

I'd suggest that's what he hinted...

Most owners - in whatever walk of life - are passionate about the business they own and/or run, including Man City's owners.

It is this passion that gets people excited to work for an owner - the money is nice but you can earn the same cash in a similar role elsewhere - again in whatever walk of life...

Our owner has zero passion for football and in particular the club he owns - Hull City

Or you could just do a Palace or a Leicester and not spunk a fortune on ****e.

It's not how much you spend that mattress, it's what you spend it on.

And of course there's Wenger, whose net spending in the transfer market was negative for years whilst paying off the stadium debt.....

Unfortunately we don't have, yet, an academy capable of providing us with quality players for the levels we wish to play at. If we want decent players, we have to pay for them. That involves risk as we're not seen as attractive as some other clubs, so we have to take punts on relatively unknowns for the levels we're at.

It matters what you spend it on, but unless you just want to be fighting relegation every year, it also matters how much you spend.

One thing someone said in another thread I think was, at least we can now take advantage of the crazy loan rules for the Championship.

If we don't have the money or an academy then you rely on your scouting system. Our scouting system has been unable to find a decent striker, even when we had £10 million to buy one. Once you buy the players you have to get them to play as a team. Something we failed to do, yes we had injuries, but there were too many matches were we didn't turn up. Yesterday the majority of our squad came from the championship. Of the others Dawson, Robertson and Jelavic fitted in, Harper had little to do, Huddlestone was good in parts awful in others and the rest were average at best.

The ins and outs will be interesting next season, as will Bruce's quest for a cheap striker that scores lots of goals.

They put some corny video on the big screens at half time didn't they, with various people being inspirational on it.

Ehab uttered some ****, I don't know what as the PA system in the north stand is not fit for purpose, but I was struck by his long, serpentine neck.

    And scaley skin.

    And fork tongue.

    Gives me the creeps.

I do not agree, about Assem Allams passion for supporters, he believes that he is doing this for the supporters.
Far from hating supporters, I think he is dismissive of the anti name change as he feels it does not represent the majority.
I have been told that staff at the club would walk on water for him.

The name change was an idiotic idea to start with, to persevere with it now is utterly moronic. For a very successful businessman, he's a surprisingly stupid man.

    They should.

HCC take contempt for the citizens of Hull to levels even higher than you lot attribute to the Allams.
