Alright I apologise deeply for my shocking oversight and promise to do whatever it takes to ensure never again that I make a post which isn't clear enough by your standards P.s. I had already added "possibly a poor choice of wording on my part" to the post you quoted prior to you posting it!
I said we are in the final, not that we have won it. My point was this season can still be a success and enjoyed rather than having to look to next season.
The cup final is a good achievement (back to back makes it even more impressive) but the league has been par for the course for arsenal and wenger.
I'm astounded people still bite at Cini's negativity... First two months aside I've really enjoyed this season. If we win the FA cup as well it'll cap a promising 18 months. Two major trophies, a side growing in confidence, beating United and Citeh away, using a proper DM and, above all, sexy football. Of course there's still plenty of room to improve but I refuse to be so focused on that that I don't enjoy the good sh@t.
If we can combine the stability we had from the first half of the 2013/14 season with our form from the second half 2014/15 season well be title contenders. Our problem is that we struggle to maintain said form for the whole season. If we take what we have now add in about 2 top faces, gel them in quickly and keep the team fit we'll be fine
The other problem is trying to keep our best players fit and on form, as we can't afford 2/3 world class players in each position so we don't suffer when we lose one of our important players. For example we haven't been able to cope when we lost Ramsey last season, or Ozil, Giroud and Kos at the start of this season, with Ramsey and Merts not being fit
A Spurs fan had the cheek to say to me that van Gaal has done a better job than Wenger this season (and yes, he was being serious...) Despite Arsenal spending half of what they did in the Summer, finishing ahead of them in the league and getting to a domestic cup final. Apart from that though, I can totally see the amazing job that van Gaal has done this season. Especially with the second highest wage bill in the division. World class achievement by LvG to finish 4th.
Taking Spurs out of the equation and the figures are 10 out of 24 this season and 6 out of 24 last season so it is progress of sorts !
These are several of the age old and massive 'ifs' though. Can all of them fall into place at once in one season for Wenger? I'd love to see it but logic dictates that it won't given it hasn't in the past.
The thing is though, that logic isn't always the dominant force in the outcome of a season. Ask any mangaer, footballer or chairman and they will tell you that luck has almost as big a role to play.
Name the last premier league winners or champions league winners who won undeservingly because of luck.
That's not the point I'm making. I'm saying that to win the league, any manager will tell you that you need a good slice of luck as well as good tactics, planning etc.
