But long contracts put clubs back in the driving seat.
With 5 years to play with, we're under 0 pressure to sell, unlike Sterling who we could lose for not much next year.

Even with a new manager Sterling looks to be out the door.

The new boss could decide the Brazilian lad needs to help fund his redevelopment of a squad that has reduced in quality since Rodgers joined three years ago

Good, get rid of him ASAP <ok>
If we sell Sterling there's no need to think of selling Coutinho.

It may well be that the boy wants to go.

Rodgers gave his career a kickstart and now he could lose that man and then look for a new challenge

He must be close to the door.

We were dogshite at the start of the season and I was very critical and got quite a lot of stick from some of my mates.

We vastly improved and it looked like I was being too negative - I wasn't - we aren't anything special and have a lot of problems.

The truth is he's spent loads of money and we're not really any better off.

One thing that really annoyed me was when he was asked why Sterling didn't start and he said "its been a really tough couple of months for him".

I mean really? I couldn't give a **** if it has been. Its all of his creation and its hurt us as a team and as fans.

Rodgers show some ****ing balls for once.

Liverpool FC Talking Point: If plenty of fans were still ‘undecided’ on Rodgers' future, then this was enough to change their minds
    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/liverpool-fc-talking-point-plenty-9322190

This was a performance worse than anything the club offered up under either Roy Hodgson or Kenny Dalglish

Prior to this game, Brendan Rodgers was asked by the media if he believed he would be Liverpool’s manager next season.
“Yes, yes, 150 per cent,” was his tub-thumping answer.
If he is still of that opinion now, then he’s either the bravest man alive, or he’s kidding himself.
There are lows and then there are lows. In a footballing sense, this was as bad as it gets, the most embarrassing afternoon imaginable, both for Rodgers and for Liverpool Football Club. Disgraceful barely does it justice.
Rodgers was berated as he passed the travelling Reds fans on his way to the dressing room at half time. It wasn’t a nice sight, but then Liverpool were 5-0 down. At Stoke. At half time, having conceded all the goals in the space of 22 horrific minutes. In all honesty, he was lucky any Reds had stayed long enough to confront him.

By now the media, the public, FSG and the fans know that BR often spouts bravado. This 150% quote will be seen as nothing more.

I'm saddened that I seem to have more in common with our WUM opposition fans, in that I want BR to stay on to right some wrongs of this season.

    The reality of the situation is this;

I was going to do a pros and cons article shortly about rodgers and the case for and against.... but....

    why bother?

He has singularly failed in executing whatever it is in his head he thinks the game should be... zero intensity, zero press, zero confidence. The powderpuff display put in by lucas and allen and indeed Henderson against stoke was a total joke. Stoke simple played the type of game rodgers said LFc would play and many times this very season has pointed toward.

He has failed to execute properly in the transfer market. Houllier got the sack for cheyrou, diouf and diao.Benetiz got the sack for keane and aquilani. Hodgson got the push for being hodgson and having konchesky and poulsen as his main men, comolli and dalglish went for downing and carroll....

If you fail to execute well in the transfer market to that level you go cos the team won't perform... the buck stops with rodgers. pun intended. markovic, balotelli, lovern, moreno, lallana.... that pile of ****e will get you the sack anyday. this is huge, glaring, gaping hole in any defence as its indefensible. the only defense the apologists for him make is 2it was someone else not him what done it officer"

He failed in europe and in cups and in league. the runs in the cups were "respectable" but the reality is Ud absolutely flopped over the line like a marathon runner wearing a divine costume running the london marathon in 7 hours but beacuse they did flop over the no trophy but mystical success line of 4th Van gaal gets to party hard with worse cup runs and bost about his mega money signings to come and utd will be raring to go from the off next year and every utd fan and plastics too will be fully expecting a title next year....

Rodgers manages to serve up just about relegation form in the last 10 games of the season (beating only relegation fodder in the process) and an absolute tonking on the last day and so sets up doom and gloom for the entire summer. Failure is the cause of the pressure he's under nothing else.

You say we flopped over the line yet we've been in the top 4 and comfortably so for most of the season. Bar a few giddy pool fans and a few negative United fans, most knew top 4 was sorted months ago.

Has the meaning of 'flopped' changed in a similar vain to 'lucky'?

What a difference a year makes for Rodgers.

Wonder who will bemoan player injury first as the main reason for the poor show

    you taking the piss?

if it wasnt for us ****ing up you WOULD NOT have made top 4, the negative articles could have been reversed and not like we had hard fixtures at the end just played ****e. there was 12 pts for the taking there we should have got which would have put us above you.

you got lucky we ****ed up, trying to make out top 4 was a shoein ffs!

It was a shoe in. Not sure how it was down to you guys being awful. We've hardly been great ourselves but significantly better than you throughout the season.

Thats like me saying Chelsea only won the title because we were rubbish at times. Had we not been rubbish and won all our games, we would be champions.

I wouldn't be able to live it down. People on here keep in depth dossiers on me and everything I say.

Man United deserve to be in top 4.

But you were fortunate that other teams like Liverpool soton and Spurs were worse. You were benefited by being in the worst PL in its history.

Same applies to Liverpool - we should be nowhere near 5th or 6th but did so because our rivals kept f*cking up.

And I couldn't list the same. We dominated most of our games and most that we did lose were against the run of play or unlucky. Its all ifs and buts.

Lets just stick with reality. We were better and fukky deserved top 4. We've been there almost all season its never really been in doubt.

Our record v the top sides alone is enough to set us apart. Its the best in the league.

I agree its beem a poor season. Even the champions are a dull and ordinary side. As a whole we are miles away from Europes top sides.

Its only fair to point out that this view we share is limited to the big 6 sides. The other 14 will have enjoyed this season immensely, even the relagated sides because they have contributed to making it so tough for big teams. The likes of Saints, Leicester, Swansea etc wont forget this for a while.
