Now, Mercedes owes Hamilton 17 points. Ten he lost from his lead and seven he would have gained from his deserved win. It's not just a 7 point loss.
Sorry to post so quickly but..check this out Speaking to Sky F1, Mercedes chief Toto Wolff explained after the race that the team’s pitwall had anticipated a pitstop from Ferrari for third-placed Sebastian Vettel and were caught out as they believed Hamilton’s lead was three-and-a-half seconds bigger than was actually the case. How could they believe the lead was so big after the virtual safety car and then safety car? Maybe they need to put down their computer and calculating equipment because surely they don't know how to use them. Why do they think on board cameras and all those things are there for, to make them look technical? If they were worried about his tyres why didn't they pit when he had just over 20 seconds lead before the accident?
Either way, no need to pit. You could drive around on some remoulds and no bugger would get past you at Monaco.
Ok Sgt... I nominate you to be sole team head of Mercedes, you wouldn't have made that mistake. By the way congrats to Jenson who got the first points on the table for mclaren. I was going to vote mclaren as the worse team but Mercedes surely beat them to that title. I keep saying that Mercedes keep letting Ferrari dictate their strategy and I am more convinced of that now..they thought Ferrari were pitting...hahahahah. Jokes here.
It's is sometimes acknowledged that Lewis is a real racer when he ignores or pushes team orders. Back to today
Theres more to this. I can't take in the fact Mercedes have just ****ed up so easily. 10 points were lost by Lewis. You are leading the WDC and WCC in F1 for Pete's sake, chances like these won't come by as easily in the future.
This is ultimately What it boils down to, regardless of whether Lewis thought Nico had pitted, would pit or he felt his tyres were useless and he would be under pressure for the remainder of the race.
MSC... Not just 10 points....he lost 10 of the points he already had and he would have gained another 7 for the win so in face it was 17 points.
Toto just said they miscalculated the distance behind lewis. So it had nothing to do with if Lewis thought Nico pitted. Mercedes knew Nico didn't pit so that shouldn't have been in the calculations, after all Nico is driving the sister car. That shows the folly of Mercedes.
Brawn instructed Nico to hold station behind Lewis when he was in massive fuel saving - it became Lewis's first Merc podium - Nico was rightly pissed about it be respected the team instruction. There have been several other incidents where Lewis has been "asked" to do something and he has declined.
no, but he's a serial cheat and a whiner. I suspected he'd made the call himself when he said 'we lose as a team'
