I find point totals can be misleading as those will fluctuate every season (Didn't United once win the title with 80 points?). What's important is how well you did relative to the rest of the league, and we've improved definitely. We're third now rather than fourth last season, and our form up to Chelsea game was incredible. As long as we aren't horribly unlucky with injuries next season, I see no reason why we won't challenge for the title next season.
Do you not honestly think we're stronger this season? Our form this second half of the season has been exceptional.
You seem pleased about this. If we had an 'exceptional' period of form every year and finished 3rd or 4th every year (both of which pretty much happen to us most seasons), does that satisfy you? We haven't overtaken anyone... We're third because Liverpool disappeared into the ether. I don't care how much you can subjectively argue that 'we've improved' if it doesn't translate to any actual upturn in our fortunes. Only Liverpool fans say that 'next year is our year'
We're in the FA Cup Final... It's not next year is our year, this year is our year! And last year was our year! Edit: And hopefully next year will be our year again!
Of course I'm pleased about our form. Why wouldn't I be? You say Liverpool disappeared but Man Utd improved and we've done well to finish above them considering how much money they've spent. Getting Top 4 was also more comfortable for us this season. The main reason we're so far off Chelsea is because we had an injury crisis earlier on in the season whilst they've been injury free. It's just bad luck, and we're due some good luck in that department. I don't see how you can say we're not making progress. In 2013 we just about scraped 4th and had no real world class players in our squad and had been trophy less for 8 years. Since then we've won an FA Cup and will probably win it again this season, won the Community shield, finished 4th more comfortably last season than in 2013 (Hell, we were top for half of the season), and in this season we'll finish a comfortable 3rd. We also now have 2 world class players. It's progress. City finished 3rd and won the FA Cup in 2011. They won the league the next season.
Answer me this. If we hadn't been so unlucky with injuries or if they'd had as many injuries as we had, would the gap between us and them be bigger, smaller or the same?
And why are you ignoring the rest of my post as well? We've progressed in the last 2 years. That can't be denied.
Don't start taking an accusatory tones. Most of your comments and thread so far paint you as a toolish WUM. The positives I see written on here are the same positives we see most end of season. What positives have we got right now that we didn't have end of 2013/14 for example?
Being capable of enjoying our success and seeing it as the ultimate goal of the club are two different things. Again, don't be a ****** for the sake of being a ******...
I'd say this season has been more or less the same as 2013/14. Period of the season where we're the best team in the league arguably. Period of the season where we're ****e. However comparing the last 2 seasons to the previous couple and you can see the progress there. Also, we're 3rd this season as opposed to 4th last season. Yes, Liverpool and Everton have regressed, but Man Utd and Southampton have progressed. What I would say is that our team is stronger now than it was last season. Firstly, we have Alexis, who's arguably the best player in the league. Secondly, we finally have a Top DM in Coquelin. Those are definitely 2 positives we have now that we didn't have a the end of last season.
The point where my grammar and spelling become your main retort is the point you've lost the argument. So I guess that discussion is over. Edit: although that said, I can't actually find me using either there, their, your or you're in any of my comments in this thread.... Don't tell me you were highlighting your own good english? Lol.
Just as a neutral observer on this thread, the point at which you resort to calling people ****** is probably the point you've lost the argument. Other than that I can see weight on both sides of the argument. Any success breeds a winning mentality that arsenal have lacked for far too long. So winning FA cups will breed that. Same token you still lack steel, particularly in midfield to sustain a season long title challenge.
He was attributing an opinion to me knowing full well it wasn't what I meant, the "don't be a ******" comment was meant along the lines of "come on now, don't be stupid", or "don't try and put words in my mouth to get a reaction", rather than a "**** you, your a ******, ner ner ner". I thought that was fairly clear but obviously not! Possibly a poor choice of wording on my part.
