It was earlier than that. It was worn in Waggy's first full season before the promotion and cup quarter final season. Bit of a craze at the time for that design. I think West Ham had a similar one amongst others.
There is brewery near me ,run by two gay guys , which is called the Two Cocks brewery. Their farmhouse/brewery rebuild was featured on Grand Designs.
That was my first season supporting City. I still have a signed version of the great picture of Chillo in that strip from Football Monthly.
Forgot that was the away shirt. Though change kit would be more accurate as there wasn't all the marketing malarkey of away kits then just a change if colours clashed. Just remember a photograph of Bobby Moore knelt down holding a football wearing that shirt. Sure I saw some other teams in that design. Maybe they were change kits. Talking of changes, it used to be said that Notts County as founder member of the league and Preston as first champions had a dispensation allowing them not to change in the event of a clash. Always wondered how correct that was but do recall Newcastle playing at home in a change kit against Notts County years ago.
Not going back to the early 90s tops? Yeah they're not good designs but they're interesting. We had a good keeper one back in the day please log in to view this image
Crystal Palace had an all white strip with a diagonal stripe on the shirts in about 1970/71. I think the stripe was claret and blue. I know we thought it looked really smart. I'm pretty sure I remember Alan Whittle (who?) playing in it. It was another one that was very different. It was quite like the Peru shirt form the 1970 world cup.
