Or as I've said the show is average enough to not bother watching if you hear a spoiler The only way to save this show is a set piece battle where Ramsey ends up getting his spectacularly Of course the avid fans read the books and know what will happen but I don't so at least I have that I don't agree it's best on TV though. ... it's got many irons in the fire yes but none of them are compelling at all.
This season has meandered and strayed sooooo far from the books its not a joke. BUT, after book 3 they also meander and the characters do **** all. In all honesty I like the show more.... The good thing about the books is the backstories you get, plus you get inside the characters heads which is fun, but there is so much guff and pomp in the plot after book 3 its unreal.......
I have always said, George Martin (The author) is the exact opposite of George Lucas. Lucas is good at writing a story, but his characterisation, dialogue etc is appalling, he cannot write a character arc for **** GM is the opposite, he is masterful at writing characters, helping you understand their motivations, and has some witty dialogue, I just wish he would decide WHAT THE **** he wants them to do in this story.
IMO the first and second star wars were good. emire strikes was decent. the firs tone was of its time but utterly brilliant though the story and acting were not. Martin has created 1000 characters. great. many authors could and do. It's like this.. would you watch say the story of the malazan empire on tv... **** no that got soe convluted and confused it was ridiculous. would you watch david gemmill work? no prob not as it was all of a type. There others such as david weber who create an just as broad a canvas but the premise is not really going to make it to TV. The great thing martin has done is in effect taken history and geography and completely mix it up to great a plausible history. I would say there are some yanks out there who think england really was like this once and hadrians wall kept zombies at bay. My view is like say Steven Erikson, Martin has ZERO incentive to end his story. None.. the long it goes the more money he gets. ten books erikson did and they got ever more convoluted and in places stupid. Another example would be webers Harrington books. If anyone read the first it was really good, 15 books later its not much closer to the end...... Martin will milk this. The think is harry potter films meant that author got so much they had the good grace to end the damned thing. Martin must be not getting enouhg millions here cos he needs to have a clear end here. We are on season 5..... even at best i'd say no more than 7 season please. but...... even now its getting a bit silly Examples: The lannister's are so weak now a new born kitten could take that over. Its total disarray now and season 5 has just made it worse. We'd have assumed jamie would learn to man up with no hand and take over but he'd been moved out of the way so we can only see the next boy king killed shortly. Season 5 appears to be going towards a clash at winterfell that keeps stannis from taking king's landing. Blondie is just sitting there in slaver's bay... its still a case for me.. like why the **** would you want this island when you've a huge kingdom to take right where you are. The question has to be what ending would you want for it? by season 2 clearly Rob stark was to be the man and then the red wedding occurs. For the TV show that left a huge gaping hole on the good guy side and jon snow is not yet filling it.
edit: i forgot about lucas. Star wars 3 was a direct copy of 1 and actually poor 4, 5 and 6 were travesties of writing and film making Indiana jones "4" shall we say was a travesty. Is it writing or phoning it in?

We need this alliance with the Tyrells in order to keep enough money and troops coming in to control Westeros. Every move you make is pissing all over Tommen's rule, antagonising the Tyrells and installing power to fanatical religious groups who defy our laws and do not recognise the crowns authority because they believe they answer to a higher power....******ed much? All because, what, you dont like the fact that your son is getting laid by his wife and may actually take an interest in being Queen and not just getting drunk all the time and ****ing her brother." Then they should oust the bitch, sling her over to Casterly Rock to rule the Westerlands and install Kevan as Tommen's regent with Jaime also on the council advising him. And try their best to repair the damaged relationship with the Tyrells which Cersei seems so desperate to sabotage. She is so ****ing inept, I wonder why no one is just telling her straight that she is ****ing everything up. Taking Tywin out of the picture has totally ****ed the Lannisters.
kevin.. the worst name ever in the show. No seriously... in prior seasons the stuff she is doing would have been a reason for a swift assassination. Her actions have at this point gone so far as to in effect create a religious coup in her capital where the actual queen is now under arrest and now the tyrell alliance is over. I can possibly see cersei trying to kill the old tyrell in next episode as thats all that can save it. Tommen is 110% going to get snuffed very shortly just as soon as the queen is knocked up. I think the boy has been acted i nsuch a way that he's not going to take his warriors, free his queen and send his mother packing. same as greyjoy... he's not going to pull out a knife and cut ramsay's throat as he rapes sansa... just not written that way. Martin will not have characters man up.. they play the game and fail and a stronger character will step in. In this case it's unlikely to be anyone but cersei in charge at king's landing in episdoe 1 season 6. Snow... strong character... at the wall, tied to it. will he make a mistake? Stannis.. strongish but dull and influenced by alternate religion. will meet ramsey at winterfell. Blondie. Strong but tied down who else is there? Jamie? he's acting weak...

Pronounced Kev-un Its not the kid from Home Alone Its just ****ing my head up why she is trying so hard to undermine her sons rule and why he isn't just saying "Mother, shut the **** up and go home to Casterly Rock, you're a daft ****". Her motivation is that she is pissed that Margaery has influence on her son.....its his wife ffs!! Of course she has influence, but if she is giving good counsel to Tommen and allows him to rule peacefully and with wisdom, what the **** is her problem? She is rich and loaded, has servants, a castle, could have any man she chooses, but she is pissed because her son is getting his end away. The woman is so petty and ****ing spiteful, its making me angry just typing about it. Once Tywin died, its not like she is even obligated to marry Margaery's gay brother any more. A simpler method would have just been to have him assassinated, but no, lets start a religious uprising that could potentially cause a whole heap of a **** storm for the whole country and my son the King, so I dont have to marry that pillow biter.

Indeed. If I were Tommen, I would just have the Kings Guard and half the City watch kick their doors in and slaughter the whole bunch of em. Robed monks with sticks aren't going to be able to beat 1000 City watch soldiers and fully armoured Kings Guard Knights.

the other kid is the same though.... right from season one joffrey was a guy pulling wings off flies and such ... just like ramsey. Tommen right form the off is weak and childish.. it can only end one way. But no cercei will simply blame someone else and continue on. I doubt they will arrest him. the biggest surprise i could see is tommen joinning the monks and becoming a religious nut and transferring the dominance from cercei or the queen to the monks instead and then they take over and then... in the end... stannis turns up with his witch and a religious war ensues. I have no doubt cercei will end with arya starks sword in her belly.
