Arsenal's 13/14 wage bill was 166mil compared to our 144mil. It's not a huge difference, we just tend to give high wages to crap players

It equates to £423k per week, that's quite a big different, it's two / three top quality players

Do some of you really feel that you're 'not that far' away from the title? Do you honestly believe that, from an outsiders/neutrals perspective I think your miles off. Teams above you are only going to get stronger as well.

I actually think we're closer to top 4 than you are to the title as things currently stand, and I was one of these Saints fans who said it was never a realistic goal (and don't think it ever will be)

Where did we finish the season before last? And where did we finish last season?
Where were you a season ago? where are you now?

Lots can change in one season. United will spend, but I don't think it will necessarily make them stronger. Especially now they don't have a mid week break. + Arsenal will stay as they always are - never worsening, never improving.

We were miles off after the 2012-13 season but we went quite close in 2013-14 season. Quite a few clubs are just a Suarez away from a challenge. In reality, we're a few players short.

Lots can change in a year, last year was a poor example though cos a lot was down to Suarez (note I'm not saying all of it, but he was a massive part) and United will probably never finish that low again. I'm just saying I'm struggling to make a case for you to finish above 2 of City, United, Chelsea & Arsenal in the next 5years, let alone all of them in a single season? I honestly don't see it happening, paticuarly with the size of the financial gap between you n the top 4 now. As Gerrez post above states, that's quite a big difference in terms of the players who can make the difference. You're also struggling now where teams like Arsenal/City are seen as a step up from you, so players will see you as a stepping stone similar to Spurs.

If I said that Saints weren't 'that far away' from a top 4 finish, I'd be laughed out of the building, and rightly so.

"just a Suarez" How many of those are around? and can you attract them? You have to develop them but your transfer business is poor recently. Last year was your chance and Brenda ****ed it by refusing to address the defence.

I never said there were lots of them around and if there were lots of them, one of them wouldn't make much of a difference since most would have one ([HASHTAG]#mindfuck[/HASHTAG]) We attracted one before despite being ****e :)

Yeah but he wasn't that player when you signed him, he was a very good player, not one of the best in the world, but your business has been poor recently, and it's only going to get harder and harder for you as the years without CL etc. go on.

Bournemouth will get there before you lot :bandit:

only messing lol, you are not that far off to be honest.

I don't agree. I believe he was a very good player but clubs weren't prepared to take the plunge because of his reputation, he'd already done the handball in the World Cup quarter-finals against Ghana and he'd already bitten a player too, plus forced a transfer from one Dutch team to get to Ajax.

It's not going to be easy to get back into the CL and we really have missed out on a great opportunity, especially considering the CL money doubles this year too.

<laugh> going to be weird having them in the Premiership, they will try and make it a massive derby/rivalry and no doubt Sky will jump on that bandwagon as well, glad they got promoted though and hope they stay up <ok>

Nah we're miles off, it will never happen in my lifetime, this season is as good as it realistically will ever get for us (bar winning a cup obviously)

I think this is one of the key things for you lot, the gap was big anyway financially but now it's only going to widen and widen.

That's an abysmal wu for a club that will [HASHTAG]#hopefully[/HASHTAG] finish one place outside the CL places. Must try harder, BBS <laugh>
You've only finished in the CL places once in how many years now?

I think that's more what I was getting at.
