So if Real Madrid are daft enough to sack Ancellotti and replace him with Rafa, I am sure some Real players will want to move on!! Now who could we possibly purchase there without breaking the bank? Modric for me!!! His absence in the final few weeks has been really costly for them as they lacked the creativity to break down a very durable Juve defence.

Anyone know anything about MLS player Lee Nguyen (apparently linked to us because he has played under Koeman at PSV).

He's fast, he's got good technical skills, and when he's on he's one of the few MLS players who can flash some creativity and do something special. He has that next-level potential. Except he's already 28, and lightweight.

I like him and he is actually one of my favorite MLS players. But MLS being what it is, I still don't think he's anywhere near good enough. Would probably be cheap, and useful as backup/European Cup filler, but can't see him as being much more than that. Really don't see why we'd be interested if we have already signed Vilhena.

It seems Guzan is out of favor at Villa. A middle aged experienced PL keeper. He could be a good option while FF is out and push him when he returns. I don't think he will want to remain the backup at Villa. Can't be too expensive.

Agree but doubt he'd come here to be back up as well.

Do reserve keepers get paid over the ordinary as compensation for the fact that they'll rarely get game time? I'd say that's a price worth paying. I know they are supposedly meant to fight for the no. 1 (or no. 23) jersey, but the reality is, you're there for the few moments of cover required. I can't work out why most other PL teams manage to attract decent level back-up keepers, but any time we think of one, there is always a caveat in the way of us seemingly attracting them.

I would think the promise of a few months' head start to establish yourself as first choice with us next season would do most keepers nicely. Last two seasons have shown me how important a reserve keeper of the right age, agility, temperament, experience etc. is - I reckon we've dropped 5-6 points as a direct result of not having the right level of backup. Pure guesswork of course, but even the positive psychological effect on the opposition is enough to change the result in their favour, not to mention any negative psychological effect on our defence.

I agree. Anyone who comes to us has a likely 4 month starting position. If they are performing well and the team is high in the table I'm not sure FF would just walk back in. Plus we really don't know how long he will be out. It could be like Jay and miss all of next season.

He would absolutely destroy MLS.... except he won't. He'll realize how hard he has to run, and how bad everyone is around him, and BWP will never pass him the ball, and then he will probably get frustrated and do something stupid.
