I see Paul Gascoigne has been awarded 180K for phone hacking damages. The courts might as well as signed his death warrant!

He`s looking a lot better than he did last year. Maybe he`s finally getting the message.

I fear the worst for the lad. He slips back so often and the vultures of the press love to splash it across the papers!

Aye they`ll be waiting right enough.
Can`t help feeling the next lapse will be his last. Hope he realises it.

He'll end up like Geordie Best.
No doubt his dad & Five Bellies will give him a good send off.

He's a poor father, terrible role model, wife beating piss head who blames everyone else for his problems.

Hacking his phone ffs, I switch off whenever he comes on TV ....... who would want to listen to his drunken ramblings on his phone <doh>

I don't believe he can't stop drinking, I just think he's too stupid & arrogant to stop.

He'd be just the same if he was an unknown sausage fabricator in Byker.

I don't really feel sorry for him at this stage. He's had plenty of chances to get better now.

I'll always regret great players (and I do believe Gazza was one) going the way he has. I'll always want him to get better, no matter what. I have two photos. One is Hughie Gallagher in his early 20s, just after he signed for Newcastle - smart, straight-backed, bright as a button young feller. The other is a flabby faced, sad eyed, unhappy old man - Hughie Gallagher at Chelsea just ten years later. Seriously, he aged forty years in ten! And in another ten, he threw himself in front of the London-Edinburgh express. Bestie was the same, and Jimmy Baxter wasn't far behind. These guys gave pleasure to millions - no, I can never see them the way they ended up without great sadness.

I bet they didn't get much gossip out of Gazza's phone mate, just a bunch of reminders as to which offy has the best discounts on Kestrel Super and an endless amount of texts saying "Where are ya?".

I was once in this pub not far from Glasgow, Gazza was playing for Rangers at the time & Walter Smith owned the pub.
Walt burst in this day, face like thunder & said to the barman, "Peter has that lazy geordie bastard been in here?"

Alcoholism most certainly got the best of him, which certainly contributed to many if not all his other issues.
I for one would love to see him turn his life around because I do believe there is a decent human being hidden behind his mental problems..

He's had depression since he was a wee boy mate when his little mate got killed.
    Gazza blamed himself for it.

Aye Billy, but Gazza really was King up there. The Gers loved him.

He played a canny flute as well <laugh>

    :cheesy:

He must have done the flute celebration after scoring a goal, I remember reading that he'd kind of been put up for it and didn't know the significance of it....oh yeah? :emoticon-0136-giggl

The Dentist's Chair celebration after that great goal against the Jocks at Wembley was one of the best celebrations ever imo.....it stuck two fingers up to The Sun for having him and his teammates splattered all over the front page of their paper following their drinking bout. Brilliant stuff.
