    Blackburn want to snap up Sunderland’s gifted midfielder Steed Malbranque in a bargain deal.

    Rovers boss Steve Kean has opened talks for the Belgian-born French international, who is being squeezed out of the Stadium of Light by Steve Bruce’s army of new arrivals.

    Rovers are keen to take on Malbranque, either on loan or for a cut-price fee, as Kean looks to bolster his midfield and add some creativity to the side.

    Newly-promoted QPR also want Malbranque, who has played in London with Fulham and Tottenham from 2001 to 2008, but they are struggling to put a package together for him.

    That means Rovers could land their man having missed out on Jermaine Jones and Belgian star Axel Witsel earlier this summer.

    Steed, class for Sunderland, anybody who can smoke two hundred a day and still run around people with a ball at his feet, is ok with me, still do the two hundred mind, but the other bit, what we would call talent, I aint got, nor never did have. but whatever happens, If he stays another season, I would be more than happy, If he moves on, all I can say is `THANK YOU VERY MUCH STEED YOU WERE A PLEASURE TO HAVE HERE`

    Think maybe he'll be gone, he will know himself what lies ahead of him this season..Bit like the Bolo situation, not enough games, time to move on and show what you can really do..

    He's been honest for us so I'd wish him well at BB. Don't have the time for most other ERL teams but with Ryan Nelson there for a number of years I take an interest in them. Glad they didn't go down this season.

    0400 here in Holland. but still not bedtime yet, start work in eight hours, but older you get, less sleep required, in my case anyway.
