He'd have to be the best player on the planet for me to even consider a Liverpool player moving to United. Ultimate mercenary thing to do.
I would not want sterling, not just because I think he's overrated but because I think it says a lot about the lads personality that at 20 years old he's holding Liverpool to ransom over a new deal. Sterling represents everything that you don't want to see in a young player, he's a bad apple plain and simple. Putting my hatred to Liverpool to one side, from purely a football point of view Sterling is best off staying with Liverpool, as if he goes elsewhere his development could be hindered, as he's not going to be a guaranteed starter, and he certainly isn't going to be the main man wherever he goes. Currently at Liverpool he's guarenteed to start and he's the player others look to pass the ball to all the time, where as I don't see him playing such a big role at the likes of City and Arsenal. Sterling has obviously seen the pound signs though, and with City prepared to pay Milner 185k a week, you can only imagine how much more City will pay Sterling than Liverpools 100k a week offer. It's a sad sign of the times that a 20 year old is being so motivated by money, so early in his career.
Its all a joke, UTD would not want him and Liverpool would not sell him to us. Sterling will be at QPR is 3 years time on 20K a week
There does seem to be some truth to this, you have made an enquiry by the looks of it. Swap deal including Herrera?
Even if there is truth in the enquiry, I think LVG is being somewhat naive if he thinks Liverpool would do a deal with us for one of their players. The last time a deal was done between the 2 clubs was 1964, so it's proven to be a no go area over the years. If you believe reports it's looking like a bidding war between the PLs top 4 could well take place for him, and I'd imagine even if we offered the most for him, Liverpool would probably rather accept a lesser amount than sell to us. A little similar to what Spurs did with Modric, they could have got 10 million more if they'd sold to rivals Chelsea, but opted to sell abroad instead
LVG was reported as interested in swapping Herrera for a winger previously. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/537317/Bayern-Munich-Ander-Herrera-Xherdan-Shaqiri-swap We could do a deal here fellas.
I think a swap deal is the only way Liverpool could be persuaded to do a deal with us for Sterling, as atleast you'd be getting one of our players in return. However I don't see LVG wanting to swap Herrera so readily, as I think Herrera has a good future with us. You also have to remember that all party's would have to agree, and there's no guarentees Herrera would be happy to join Liverpool. With all your best players wanting out, and then being replaced by half of Southampton's squad, Liverpool don't really look all that appealing to a quality player like Herrera these days. When Sterling goes who will you really have left who's any good?
Not only that, but he's also not contributing enough to deserve the status he seems to want to give himself. If he was scoring and assisting with plenty then fair enough, but he's not delivering. It would be like Ronaldo trying to hold Utd to ransom in 2005 before he'd established himself at Utd. Tbh I think Sterling has the potential to establish himself at a better side than Liverpool. But probably not the attitude and mental resilience, which is where SWP, Obertan and others fell down.
Bottom line is he's clearly chasing money he does not yet warrant as he simply isn't good enough. Ergo, no thanks.
I know its ****ed up. You're 20 Raheem!!! Sign the contract, take the 100k a week, meet your potential and leave in 2-3 years when your value has doubled and you can command wage requests of 150-200k per week. Whats the ****ing rush, why does he have to be in the Champions league now? When any club with any hope of winning the CL would put him on the bench at best....how is that going to help him develop?
Rodgers started all this off when he referred to Sterling as the best young player in Europe. The man's a fool.
Just how you keep a young mans feet on the ground Fergies way of not allowing them to have a car until they'd played 20 first team matches, was a far better way of dealing with young players
