Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out a move for Arsenal's Samir Nasri this summer. The French international midfielder has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium with United and neighbours Manchester City both believed to be interested in the player. The Scot does not expect Nasri to arrive at Old Trafford before the close of the transfer window, but did suggest the 24-year-old may be bound for another club. "Nasri, no," Ferguson said at a press conference on United's pre-season tour of America. "I don't think he's coming to United. "I think he's agreed to go somewhere else. Maybe he has to stay at Arsenal too. That's a possibility." The Premier League champions were rumoured to be interested in Nasri following the retirement of Paul Scholes, a player Ferguson has conceded is almost impossible to replace. "How do you replace somebody like Paul Scholes? It's very difficult," he said. "If you bracket four of the best midfield players in the world he'd be alongside Xavi and Iniesta and then you take your pick. In my mind he's one of the top four players in the world. "How will we overcome it? Maybe the next few weeks will help us overcome it. Maybe somebody will emerge out of the youth team or one of the young players emerge, and then we carry on." That paragraph is key. Like I said we won't sign a top central midfielder. Now Nasri is out of the question like I said and with Sneidjer not wanting to leave and with Fergi stating a youth player will take over. Well there you go. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/11/sir-alex-ferguson-samir-nasri
Gutted we might not be, however we will win the league easily, really all it means is another loss in a champions league final and another premier league trophy
I googled it and it is the exact words of Goal.com. STFU nolhman. We wont sign Nasri but i think we knew that anyway. This artice proves nothing else.
Who is this other target guys? Sneidjer? He has ruled out a move and wants to stay at Inter. Utd are not willing to pay his wages anyway. So tick off Nasri and Sneidjer. Who is next Modric? Well no, he is going Chelsea or staying. And as for De Rossi, well. He is too old to be bought. Now who is next after that? No one. Utd might sign some youngster though.
How do you know SAF doesn't have his eye on another player? Just because the press aren't linking United with other players doesn't mean SAF isn't looking at other players. Don't believe everything you read in the press.
We do need to bolster that midfielder but Ferguson does not want to. He keeps buying wingers etc. Did we need Young? No. I understand how people are desperate for a big name but it is not going to happen. Sneidjer is unwilling to leave and inter won't want to sell him and tomorrow this will all be confirmed in their meeting. Ferguson has ruled Nasri out completely. If we are going to sign a midfielder, it won't be a a marque signing with a big name, who demands high wages. It will be someone young with future potential. I would love us to look at Banega or Javier Martinez as these are more realistic.
Chica "How will we overcome it? Maybe the next few weeks will help us overcome it. Maybe somebody will emerge out of the youth team or one of the young players emerge, and then we carry on." This is quite clear. Ferguson wants to replace Scholes from within.
Nolhman you always act like you have looked so deeply into the matter and are trying to be intelligent about it. Then you ruin it with blind statements like "cant pay the wages"/ "wouldn't be interested in united" and other stuff no doubt from the nearest tabloid.
We need to move on from the fantasies and focus on our squad for next year. Looks like Anderson will get his golden chance and maybe Cleverly as well. I for one am looking forward to the new season.
I do think that, given a good run in the team and if he can stay fit, Anderson will have a good season next year
I am sorry but quotes are quotes. Sky sports have also taken parts of the story as well. He has said this and if you want to bury your head in the sad go ahead. But in the end of the day we won't sign a top central midfielder and you will just have to face this. Oh wait sorry The Guardian have the same quotes http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/11/sir-alex-ferguson-samir-nasri
Not saying he didnt say it just that if goal.com have published their version its likely to contain large amounts of bullshit. I suspect we will sign someone if they are available. We wont just buy for buyings sake though.
