i think we dropped a good 20pts on outrageous bad luck and single moments of individual errors - mostly in the final 10 mins of a game . When a season shakes itself out you have to accept that luck , errors and moments of madness even themselves out amongst those teams around us , but somehow i cant help feeling we should be around Palace in the league .

To say the players have been bad because of the name change situation is ridiculous. Injuries plus bad tactics have been a major problem. To just keep repeating things which aren't working is very dangerous. Phelan was brought in but maybe he hasn't had enough influence on the players and tactics, or he is overrated. Even with the injuries players were rushed back or the problem wasn't diagnosed very quickly. Brady even picked up an injury at training because of some hole there from what I remember.

we didn't score - defence played well both games - midfield ineffective and attack not getting ball - we've had too many weak players all season - Bruce, Livermore, Huddlestone, Meyler and possibly McGregor although I don't have the same problem with him that some people seem to do - it's not helped when Bruce has been determined to put his lad in the centre of defence and to accommodate him by putting Chester at right back, Macca at left back, Macca on naughty step, Davies dropped completely, sent McGuire out on loan - I don't care whether he gives 100%, he's a liability and should never be anywhere near the team - the table doesn't lie - if we had played a back three from Dawson, Chester, Davies and Macca or Macca at right back when we have a back 4 then I do not believe we would be where we are - it was good to see Macca, Dawson and Chester running the ball out of defence in the last few games rather than see the industrial division 4 hoof from Junior - like anyone I enjoy Junior getting stuck in to people like Costa etc but he is found wanting on too many occasions and the rest of the defence has to cover for his shortcomings - nowhere near good enough at Prem level

Rumours of the controversial owner selling up don’t seem too far away, despite his insistence to the contrary,

Rumours? I thought Allam insisted he was selling.

I wonder if that was something kept under wraps. We were never actually told how it happened or what he'd actually done other than 'a nasty injury' that was supposed to put him out for the season and he was back strangely very far ahead of schedule.

Sunderland fan in peace here (hard to believe I know),but the name change saga has nothing to do with how players perform. They are all (thats every club) overpaid, overhyped prima donnas who could'nt give a **** about who they play for. Which ever of the teams that actually get relegated, most of the players will be off like a shot, not caring where the next pay check is coming from,or what they are called.

I can see two or three players who MIGHT be of interest to better Clubs (Chester and Robertson in particular) and whereas other players might be 'off like a shot' IF they received offers I honestly cannot see many being offered better than what they are getting with us despite the relegation clause reducing their wages. A few of these players have found their limitations at Premier League level and will not be content to sit on the bench with another Club.
I feel that Brady, Elmo, Huddlestone and Aluko will all stay and will show their skills much better in the Championship. Same with Dawson, Bruce, Davies, McShane and Rosenior. Will N'Doye and Jelly get offers? I think that EPL Clubs will find better options (just my opinion). Diame is playing on one leg and would be a big risk. We still have Snodgrass to come in as well as Ince and Maguire from loans. Hernandez will surely be off-loaded whilst Harper will retire and McGreggor will probably reclaim his No.1 spot. We would still have Meyler and Quinn who would be above average in the Championship so this leaves a back-up goalkeeper and a couple of strikers capable of supporting Jelly.
A well above average side for the Championship.

P.S. You in the Asphalt game (It's what we call 'Black Ash' here in Oz)

Int 'tosh' a great word. Commonly used with the prefix 'old'. I wonder about its origins in quieter moments.
