I'd say coutinho was actually a lot better than last year and the early part of year.

Rodgers 3-4-3 allowed coutinho play higher up and he flourished.. then rodgers started pinning him back left side helping out and he got a lot less effective.

Sterling has played lots of places. I know that but in the end if a lad is given a central role he should just flourish.. he really didn't. didn't just try to run in behind or even stand people up and run past them.

I'm going to have to take a stand here and help Jimmy.

Whilst Sterling hasn't really done it this second half of the season, no one has in this liverpool team. Not just that, Sterling hasn't exactly been playing in his favoured position this 2nd half of the season and half the time gets shoved at left/right wing back. Everyone has quite rightly lauded Coutinho and saying he has stepped up (i would love him at chelsea) cause he has scored a few worldies. Coutinho for all his stepping up (and had looked good during the winning run) has only scored 5 and assisted 7 in his favoured position (did he take corners near the start of the season before hendo took over?). Sterling on the other hand has 7 goals and 10 assists which is the same as hendo (who takes corners free kicks and pens).

Sterling is taking the brunt of the blame because he wants to leave and thinks hes better than he is even though he was your only threat in the first half of the season.

Even the criticism that he's taking that he can't finish because he has missed some sitters; people point out against Lloris and against De Gea were chances that he created by himself.

You're current team is a bit of a shambles and there is no tactical philosophy and it looks like Sterling is taking the blame for that for wanting to move away from a Manager whos out of his depth.

  3. What about the first half of the season when he was equally ****? Least he did attempt to make a tackle then though.

Best performances he's put in this season were in Barbados!

Sterling has had a poor season, despite his goals and assists. Following the loss of Suarez and the injured Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling were looked upon to step up another level and push on. Coutinho has, Sterling hasn't - despite stats saying Sterling has contributed more. He still works hard and runs around a lot, but runs down blind alleys constantly, takes on far too many players than he's capable of doing and flops to the ground at minimal contact whereas last season he was putting his shoulder in and winning duels against much bigger players. Fans liked him because of that.

He still has the talent, but he's not done much with it this season. Yes, he's often played out of position, but Coutinho is far better in the 10 role, so tough. He should be out wide cutting in, or next to a striker to run channels, so I do take that into account given he's played almost everywhere. However, he's just not looked good and has dropped significantly since the contract issue.

If he wants to be paid like a 150k player, he needs to play like it. He's not. That's ultimately what it comes down to. We want him to stay (for the most part) but don't want to be fleeced by some hyped up kid who's still got much to learn.

I would say that was a fair assessment. The only thing i would say is you are basing the Coutinho pushing onto a new level and Sterling not on the last 3 months off play (sterling has been disappointing). That coupled with Sterling being played out of position (even Sanchez has looked **** as a CF and every time wenger tries this it doesn't work, ditto mourinho when he plays 6 midfielders ala last year).

No or is doubting how good he is. We'd all love to keep him if he signed a normal contract.

The he issue people have is in how he has treated the club. Inauthorised interviews saying stupid things, disrespecting Rodgers, and generally not looking like he cares when he plays.

If if he signed the 100k contract when it was offered we'd all be here defending his average 2nd half of the season, but because he's been a huge ****, we'd all rather see him go and get some cash.

No no player is bigger than the club and Raheem will find out that the grass isn't always greener. As Gerrard said, 1 medal with us is with more than 10 medals with Chelsea.

Raheem should realise that first team football for another year winning nothing is better than sitting on a bench all year and winning one medal.

No but what I meant was, it's not all about numbers, it's how you win them.

Gerrard would prefer to win 1 with us and 2 wth Chelsea.

Surely raheem would rather win 1 being a first team regular rather than being a bench warmer and playing 10 games as sub?

Torres won quite a bit after leaving us, but did he contribute so most of them? Not really... Would he had rather stayed and possibly been a regular first team player and enjoyed his football rather than be an expensive flop, ridiculed, shoved out on loan and left to leave on a free?

  9. Interesting to use El Nino...

Torres was loved and adored at two clubs where he won very little and then he got most of his medals as a bench warmer, including internationally too.

Hahahahaha Torres scored the winner in the CL semi final in the Nou Camp ffs.

He made 30 more appearances for Chelsea than he did for you lot.

If someone pays big money for Sterling he'll play, you're deluding yourself if you're writing off his career as a benchwarmer if he moves to a bigger club

He'll have to get his finger out though as he wont get a long run in a Chelsea, City or Arsenal playing badly as has. They ve better squads wth better competition

Given recent comments I think it's apparent that his head's been turned for months mate.

As and when he gets his move, I'd wager he'll be back to giving his all every week, which certainly hasn't been the case of late,(when I've seen him anyway)

Last year he was great, strong, fast, full of heart very effective.

Thisis my worry, he obv cant be arsed with us now and he'll go somewhere and be **** hot again

All this needs to be pointed out to any club bidding so we can get as mush as possble

  15. Sounds like our style of negotiating; "he's a right sulky **** when he wants to be which makes him useless at times. Can we have another pound please?"

If you were valuing him on recent form you'd be getting buttons.

His value will be dictated by the ability that he's shown previously and his age mate.

    It does!

Or when ballotelli goes to an Italian clun on loan we'll still be paying his wages or something daft

Is it so clear cut he will be amazing again though, there is a possibilty that getting a huge wage now will makehim less hungry but if I had to bet, I think his form will dramatically change

He'll still be **** at finishing though

How many of those appearances were 10 minutes off the bench? And he played
more games because he was there longer...

he he also didn't score the winner in the tie, Chelsea had won it and barca had every man and his dog up front trying to equalise, Torres managed to run unchallenged from the half way line and score.

Main point was that the grass isn't was greener in terms of your own personal performances

If you reckon Torres regrets that move then you're kidding yourself
